"Who's that?" someone mumbled quizzically.
No one responded because they didn't have the answer. All they knew was that the golden light that pierced through the layered vortex had become the beacon of humanity's last hope.
Ordinary people might not know what or who that was, but anyone from the demon clan or mystic arts community instantly did.
Golden light and ten fox tails—there could only be one of her.
"Shannon! It's Shannon! They're all back!" Bianca squeaked in excitement.
Mike and the others quickly recognized the figures emerging from within the vortex, delight spreading across their faces.
Even as Benjamin focused on maintaining the National Barrier, he still found the strength to send out a thread of golden light.
The golden light drifted through the air, stopping before Shannon. It hovered there for a beat, meeting her gaze, then gently pushed forward and sank in between her brows.
At that moment, she heard his uniquely calm voice, tinged with warmth and longing. "I'm glad you're back, Shannon."
Shannon stood silently, feeling the weight of everything unfolding around her. After a moment, she whispered to him, "Hold on a little longer. It'll all be over soon."
With that, she turned to Lexie and the others, instructing, "Go to Mike."
Now that the barrier around her domain had shattered, Shannon finally understood what had happened outside.
With the sapling still linked to the Alternate Divine Power's consciousness, she had grasped everything and even explained it to Lexie and the others.
Lexie nodded solemnly, then quickly vanished with Heston and Fennec.
Having the Might of the Divine Power stripped away from her, Fennec was nothing more than an ordinary half-demon. She couldn't offer Shannon help, but she could, at least, not get in the way.
A split second later, countless bolts of lightning, dense as a torrential storm, descended from all directions, crashing toward her.
The Alternate Divine Power intended to crush her completely the moment she appeared. Therefore, from the beginning, it focused all of its power on her.
Ironically, Shannon had the same idea.
Standing at the center of the storm, she neither flinched nor evaded as countless bolts of lightning crashed down from all directions.
With a thought, space around her cracked open, allowing countless rifts to tear through the air. As soon as that happened, they absorbed every incoming bolt of lightning.
Even the thunderclouds encircling her were drawn in, swallowed wholly by her domain.
Then, her palm turned over.
