Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 2350

Shannon listened to the countless voices echoing around her. She looked up at the Rift Vortex, and her hands stilled.

Her mudras were deactivated, and the blazing array beam flickered and vanished entirely.

Hers had been the brightest and largest of the tens of thousands of beams piercing the sky. So, when it disappeared without warning, everyone noticed immediately.

No one realized she had stopped of her own accord; they simply assumed she must've run out of strength.

Hector had been coordinating with the Mystic Regulatory Commission when he noticed the change. The moment her light faded, his head jerked upward instinctively.

Perhaps it was the bond between siblings, but a heaviness sank into his chest without warning.

"Shannon?" His voice was quiet, laced with worry. A soft call, not expecting to be heard, was spoken into the chaos.

But she did—she heard him. Amid the million voices, she heard his voice.

Shannon's gaze shifted downward, piercing through the National Grand Array and the layers of swirling storms, and rested on Hector.

She looked at him, then quietly asked, "Do you think Mom ever regretted staying as a guardian in the alternate world for 18 long years?"

When Lucan sacrificed his soul for the people of Celestria, did he ever regret it? And Velquin…

After finally breaking free from thousands of years of bondage, he still chose to suppress Vlad's core malice with his own being. Did he ever regret that?

Shannon thought to herself, "Probably not."

In the past, she didn't understand why they refused to give themselves another choice. Now, immersed in it all, she roughly understood.

It wasn't that they had run out of options, but that every other choice than the one they had made went against their morals.

Whether the alternate or original world ultimately survived… Well, once the gun went off, nobody won.

Then her lips moved. Her voice crossed the golden light barrier, reaching his ears. "I think I might need more time, Benjamin."

He parted his lips, intending to say he would always wait for her, no matter how long it took. Yet at the same time, he didn't want to wait anymore.

He wanted to stand by her side and face whatever came together. With the combined power of every mystic in the world, there had to be a way, just like what they were doing now.

Shannon understood his meaning.

Some burdens couldn't be shared, though—at least, not consciously. Now that the Divine Power had chosen her as its successor, certain things became hers alone to carry.

Right now, her strength was insufficient. To truly restore everything to its rightful place, only the Divine Power could do it.

Slowly, she extended her hand. In her open palm, the half-piece divine token floated upward.

The golden light it once radiated had dimmed to near extinction. That occurrence only meant one thing—the Might of the Divine Power granted to her had all been exhausted.
