Her Husband's Secret Affair novel Chapter 9

Chapter 9

“Let go of me!” Sophie shrieked, hitting him with all her might.

Adam’s expression hardened as he stepped in her way, blocking the exit. “No we’re not doing this, Sophie. We need to talk. Now.”

Sophie stared at him, her eyes full of fury and pain. “Talk? You’ve had your chance!”

Adam didn’t flinch. Instead, he stepped closer, his voice low and firm. “You can try to walk away but I’m not letting you go that easily.”

Before she could react, Adam’s strong arms wrapped around her waist, lifting her effortlessly off the ground.

“What the hell are you….Adam, put me down!” She screamed, kicking and squirming in his hold.

Adam didn’t respond. His grip tightened and with one swift motion, he carried up to the stairs, ignoring her desperate attempt to break free.

“You can’t be serious right now!” Sophie fought him but the more she struggled the stronger his hold became.

He didn’t answer, his jaws set with determination. Reaching the bedroom, Adam kicked one the door with his leg, slamming it shut behind them with the key. He moved to the window and threw the key out

“That’s it. We’re locked in here until we sort this out,” he said, his voice thick with frustration. “I don’t care how long we stay here.”

Sophie was breathing heavily by the time he dropped her, her chest rising and falling asleep her mind raced. She glared at him, refusing to let her guard down.

Adam stood across from her, his eyes searching hers. Silence stretched between them, rich and heavy until Adam finally broke it, his voice cold and firm.

“You’re leaving over my dead body, Sophie!”

She opened her mouth to ask what exactly he was sorry about but he closed the distance between them, pressing his lips to hers before she could say anything.

Her first instinct was to push him away. To slap him and remind him of everything he’d done. But the moment their lips met, something shifted in her.

That look he’d given her, the one she’d been waiting for, craving for months, was finally there. It was desperate, longing, as if he was pleading for her to stay, to forgive him.

Sophie hesitated, her hands resting on his chest, her body aching with a need she hadn’t realized she’s been suppressing. Slowly, her arms slid around his neck, pulling him closer.

Adam responded immediately, deepening the kiss, his hands sliding around her waist as he lifted her gently. She gasped when he laid her back on the bed, his weight pressing down on her, but it didn’t feel suffocating.

Her body trembled beneath his, and before she could stop herself, she opened up for him. In that moment, with Adam’s hands and his lips on hers, everything seemed to fade away.

As Adam moved above her, his breath coming in hot, ragged bursts, Sophie’s thoughts scattered. And for the first time in what felt like forever, Sophie allowed herself to feel something other than pain.
