Before Maria could say a word. Hugh said firmly to Tiffany, “Tiffany, help your mom back to her room so she
can get some rest.
Tiffany immediately nodded. “Okay.”
She walked over and gently helped Maria up. “Mom, you’re not feeling well. Let me help you back to your
room to rest.
Maria gave Hugh one last look. Then, still unsteady, she leaned on Tiffany and slowly followed her out.
As soon as they stepped out of the living room, Maria clung desperately to Tiffany’s hand, her voice shaking with fear. “Tiffany, what do we do? What should we do now?”
Tiffany held her hand firmly, speaking softly, “Mom, just take a deep breath. Let’s get you to your room and settle down first, okay?”
Maria didn’t say another word, letting Tiffany gently guide her back to her room.
Once the door was closed, Maria immediately reached for Tiffany’s hand, her grip tight and voice trembling with worry. “Tiffany, what are we going to do? Those cops seem to know something.”
Tiffany felt nervous too, but she put on a brave front for Maria. “Mom, as long as Dad is here, nothing is going to happen. Just stay calm and don’t let anything slip, okay? Stay in your room and rest. Don’t go out.”
Maria nodded, but she was still shaking with nerves. She clung to Tiffany, her voice pleading. “Tiffany, don’t leave me. Please, just stay with me.”
Tiffany was honestly getting a bit fed up with Maria, but she forced herself to stay patient. “Mom, I need to go out and check what’s happening. Maybe I can help Dad. We can’t just hide away every time something goes wrong and leave Dad to face it all alone. Dad would feel even more upset if we did that.”
Maria thought about it for a moment and realized Tiffany had a point. She bit down and said, “Then… I’ll go out too. I want to help out. Your dad needs all the support he can get.”
“Mom, just rest. We’ve got this. All of us are here for Dad,” Tiffany said softly. “You’ve already done so much for us. Now it’s our turn to take care of you. Just take it easy, Mom.”
Tiffany was really a sweet talker. Maria’s eyes got all watery, touched by Tiffany’s words.
Maria had no idea that Tiffany was just trying to keep her from causing trouble outside.
After talking to Maria, Tiffany hurried out to check on the situation.
Outside, the cops were still sitting with Hugh, sipping coffee.
Tiffany scanned the room. Aaron was missing. He must’ve caught Hugh’s hint and slipped out to quietly deal
with Alicia.

Aaron wasn’t dumb. He had to know how to keep Alicia quiet. If he dragged her out and she started yelling. things would go south real fast.
Tiffany was just aboun to head out and look for Aaron.
Just as she was about to step out, Hugh called out to her, “Tiffany, come here.”
Tiffany’s heart was racing. She was in a hurry, but when Hugh called, she couldn’t ignore him. She forced a sweet smile and walked over. “Dad.”
“Why don’t you make some coffee for these gentlemen? Coffee is always better when it’s brewed right. The servants just don’t have the touch,” Hugh said.
Tiffany traded a quick glance with Hugh. She knew exactly what he was doing, giving Aaron the chance to handle Alicia. Alright, let’s hope Aaron doesn’t mess this up,’ she thought to herself.
She flashed a relaxed smile and grabbed some coffee beans. “I’ve learned a thing or two about coffee brewing. How about I give you all a little demonstration to liven things up?”
She got busy with the pot, cups, and coffee beans, moving smoothly as she set everything up and started boiling water right in front of everyone.
While waiting for the water to boil, she chatted on, explaining each step and tossing in some fun coffee facts as she went.
The cops glanced at each other and said, “We’ve had our coffee, so let’s skip the coffee show. We’ve got other things to handle. Mr. Lawrence, did everyone in the house get the heads up?”
Hugh flashed a reassuring smile. “Don’t worry. I won’t take up your time. Just a quick cup of coffee.”
Tiffany looked down, sounding all fragile. “Are you saying you don’t like the coffee I made? I know. I’m just an
amateur…”
As she spoke, she bit her lower lip, looking like she was about to burst into tears.
The cops scrambled to comfort her. “No. That’s not what we meant. Please don’t cry.”
“Alright then, we’ll have a cup of your coffee, okay?” Kolby said.
Tiffany’s mood instantly lifted, and she flashed a sweet smile. “Don’t worry. I won’t keep you waiting too long.”
Even as she said it, Tiffany made sure to take her sweet time with every step, dragging things out for as long as possible.
Outside, Charles and Harvey were sitting in a van, both wearing carpieces so they could hear everything happening inside the Lawrence residence.
Harvey frowned, looking frustrated, “The Lawrence family keeps stalling the cops. There’s no way this isn’t shady. Charles, why are we just sitting out here? Do you really think those officers can get it done? How long

are they going to drag out this whole coffee business?”
Charles let out a sly smirk. “Those cops are just there to keep the Lawrence family busy with all that coffee
Harvey blinked, still confused. “Huh?”
Charles’s eyes narrowed. “As long as they’re inside the house, you can bet the Lawrence family is working on moving Alicia. We should just wait out here and catch them when they make their move.”
Harvey got it instantly and grinned. “You’re sharp as ever. If we barged in now, Alicia would already be gone?
“Yeah, Charles agreed. “Let’s stake out here and wait.”
They sat inside the van, eyes scanning the area and ears glued to the feed coming in from the Lawrence
residence.
About ten minutes passed, and just as expected, a car rolled out from the Lawrence residence.
This place only had one entrance, and that was exactly the spot they were watching.
As soon as the car pulled out, Charles didn’t waste a second. He started the engine and took off right after it.
As soon as Aaron noticed someone was hot on his tail, he gunned it, slamming his foot to the floor and tearing off down the road.
Meanwhile, Alicia was crammed under the back seat, tied up tight with rope and a strip of duct tape sealing her mouth shut.
Trying to make sure nobody caught a glimpse of her from outside, Aaron didn’t lay her out on the seat. Instead, he wedged her into the narrow gap in front of the back seat.
Luckily, Alicia was slim. If she’d been even a little thicker, she would’ve never fit in there.
Alicia realized Aaron was trying to take her away, and she could sense there was trouble. She wondered, ‘Did Mr. Yates come to save me?
So the Lawrence family is trying to quietly transfer me out of here!
But she couldn’t let that happen. If they really managed to move her, she might be stuck as Tiffany’s shadow for the rest of her life.
She started huffing and puffing, pushing her tongue against the tape, trying to shove it off her mouth.
Her feet kept kicking against the car, making it thud and rattle with every hit.
Aaron was already on edge, and when he heard Alicia kicking, his nerves went into overdrive. He spun around, shouting at the two guys in the back, “Get her under control. Keep her still. Don’t let her screw this up.”
Right as Aaron finished speaking, one of the guys in the back blurted out, “Watch out!”

Aaron spun around just in time to see the car that had been chasing them dart ahead like an arrow, cutting him off in an instant
Then, with a perfect drift, it slid to a stop right in front of them, completely blocking Aaron’s path.
Aaron thought he was already flooring it, but this car was even more insane. If they crashed, it’d be a total disaster. His heart was racing. He yanked the wheel hard to the side, aiming for a patch of grass and a big tree. He slammed on the brakes, but it was too late. The car hit the tree with a jarring impact. Thankfully, it wasn’t bad enough to total the car.
