Alicia watched Edward’s joyful face, but a heavy sadness lingered in her heart. He was genuinely happy for her. In her past life, when the Lawrence family locked her away, Edward never found her. He must’ve been
heartbroken.
She still remembered that moment in her last life when Tiffany stormed into the basement and asked, “Do you know my mentor, Edward West?”
At that time, Alicia had no idea that Edward West was Richard Shaw. She had just looked at Tiffany, confused.
Seeing Alicia all blank, Tiffany grumbled, “Guess he wasn’t talking about you anyway. That old guy keeps looking at the homework I gave him, but all he does is mumble someone else’s name–Alicia. Who the heck is
Alicia?”
Back then, Alicia didn’t get it. She thought Edward couldn’t possibly be talking about her. But now, she understood. Edward had never forgotten her.
Even in her past life, when Tiffany used Alicia’s paintings to become Edward’s student, he was still thinking of Alicia.
Yet, when Alicia went to find Richard, she couldn’t locate him. She assumed he didn’t want her anymore. Foolishly, she turned to the Lawrence family and treated them like her real family.
Looking back, she realized how naive she had been.
“What’s wrong?” Edward asked, noticing Alicia watching him with a trace of sadness in her eyes.
Alicia quickly smiled and said, “It’s nothing. Let’s go shopping.”
They finished dinner and cleaned up, and it was still early–just seven o’clock.
They walked toward the mall at a relaxed pace. It wasn’t far–just a 20–minute walk, perfect for helping them digest their meal.
This mall was the only one out here in the suburbs, so everyone from around the area ended up coming here to shop. No wonder it was always so busy.
It wasn’t huge, but it had a nice variety. The basement level had food stalls, the first floor had skincare counters, the second and third floors were for men’s and women’s clothing, and the fourth floor was all about shoes and bags.
They first headed to the first floor, walking past a few skincare stores when a salesgirl popped out and said, “Hey, miss, want to try our products? They’re all plant–based.”
Alicia just smiled politely, “No, thank you.”
Edward noticed that the other girls in the mall were all dressed up, while Alicia was simply dressed with no makeup–her student look stood out.
But he thought there was nothing wrong with Alicia’s look. She was a student. Still, he knew that as she got

older, she’d probably start using skincare and makeup.
When she graduated and started job–hunting, she’d need to wear some. He’d even heard that not wearing makeup in the workplace could be seen as disrespectful.
Hearing the salesgirl mention plant–based products, Edward led Alicia inside.
Alicia couldn’t help but chuckle. “Edward, what are you even doing looking at skincare stuff? Let’s just go upstairs and buy clothes.”
Edward just grinned. “It’s for you, Alicia.”
Alicia shook her head. “I’m still young, Edward. My skin’s fine. I don’t need this stuff yet.”
The store manager overheard Alicia saying she didn’t need skincare and just gave a little snort. ‘Kids these days–who doesn’t stay up all night? No wonder their skin ends up looking rough.
‘They’ll never spot their skin problems until it’s too late to do anything about it,‘ she silently griped.
She was itching to see for herself how good this self–proclaimed “good skin, still young” girl’s complexion really was.
She walked over to Alicia, putting on a professional smile. “So, what products are you interested in? I can check your skin and recommend something for you.”
But as soon as she looked up at Alicia, she froze in surprise.
First, she was stunned by Alicia’s beauty. After a few seconds, the manager snapped out of her daze and focused on Alicia’s skin.
At first glance, there was nothing wrong. Alicia’s skin was smooth. She led Alicia under the bright lights, lifted her chin gently, and examined her closely. No matter how hard she looked, she couldn’t find a single flaw.
The manager was itching to ask Alicia what kind of skincare magic she used.
After watching the manager stare at her forever and still not point out a single flaw, Alicia finally asked, “So, is there something wrong with my skin?”
The manager paused for a moment, then, with a serious expression, pulled Alicia toward her office.
Alicia frowned. “What are you doing?”
Edward
grew anxious. “Wait–what are you doing?”
The manager took a quick look at Edward–his simple clothes and thin frame made her think they probably weren’t wealthy.
So she grinned at Alicia and said, “Hey, I’ve got a business proposition you might want to hear. It could help you earn some money.”
Edward said, “We’re not chasing money. Let’s go, Alicia.”

Alicia was about to leave with Edward when the manager hurried after them, calling out, “Wait, don’t leave. I mean no harm–here, this is my business card, just have a look.”
Alicia took the card and glanced at it. The name printed was Lilah Boyd. Just seeing that name, Alicia immediately knew exactly who she was.
Lilah Boyd as a renowned makeup artist and stylist, famous for working with celebrities and even international supermodels. Her work had been featured in fashion magazines worldwide.
She had an eye for trends and knew exactly how to highlight someone’s best features while hiding any flaws. Anyone she styled ended up becoming a sensation online.
Alicia still remembered one time when Lilah gave a complete makeover to a totally unknown actor. That new look made everyone remember him–he started getting offers for hit scripts, and just like that, his career exploded.
In her previous life, Lilah was also the one who launched Archie Lawrence’s career.
Archie loved acting, but after years grinding away in showbiz, all he ever got were small supporting roles. His acting was just so–so, and it really felt hopeless for him.
But thanks to Lilah’s styling, he became a magazine feature, and soon, a director cast him in a drama as a supporting character.
Though his acting wasn’t great, he became popular because of his looks. Fans–especially the young girls–fell for his charm, and Archie’s career skyrocketed.
And Lilah only ever gave Archie his makeover because Tiffany had done her a huge favor.
In her past life, Tiffany was not only a famous painter and pianist but also an incredible biologist. She discovered a plant–based ingredient that could reverse the effects of aging and published her research. She even patented the discovery and gave the patent to Lilah.
Lilah didn’t just love makeup and styling–she had a serious passion for creating her own skincare products.
Lilah used that patent to create a line of anti–aging products that quickly became a hit with high–society
women.
So in the end, Lilah owed Tiffany big time.
