His Plump Mate (by Buchanan) novel Chapter 29

**Austin’s POV**

There’s something undeniably intoxicating about witnessing my mate take command, but what truly sets my heart racing is the way she openly acknowledges my authority in front of everyone. It’s a powerful display of love and respect that ignites a fire within me, making me crave her in ways I can barely contain. I know there will be moments of disagreement between us, and I wholeheartedly welcome her thoughts and opinions. But right now, her declaration of support as my mate and Alpha makes me want to whisk her away to our room and indulge her for hours on end. That time will come soon enough, but first, I need to ensure that everyone is on the same page.

Renz is well-informed, having been present for our initial meeting. However, the latest revelations have yet to reach Jessup, Lacy, and Jane. They need to be brought up to speed, and I’m determined to do just that.

As soon as I mention the training sessions, I can sense the tension in the air, the snarls of anger and disbelief emanating from my pack. It’s a visceral reaction, and I can’t help but feel a swell of gratitude from Rebel. She deserves to know how deeply she is loved, respected, and admired—not just by me, but by her fellow ranked members and undoubtedly the entire pack. Ceraline, that delusional witch, is the only one who hasn’t been on board with our plans; her lust for the Luna position and the power it brings has clouded her judgment. I’ll deal with her in the morning. For now, she can go to hell. Rebel is everything to me.

Turning to Rebel, I encourage her to share her story, to lay bare her past for all to hear. As she recounts her experiences, I can feel the anger radiating from my pack members, the pain of her past igniting a fierce protective instinct within them.

She begins, her voice steady yet tinged with the weight of her memories. “As for your questions,” she states firmly, “I thought that when he broke my bones, it was just part of the training. I was only thirteen when he first shattered my leg. I had to set it myself later that evening after I finished cleaning up in the kitchen.”

A hush falls over the group as she continues, “One day, while searching through my father’s office, I stumbled upon a medical book. I took it, determined to learn how to mend myself. It took me two more painful attempts before I finally managed to set my leg correctly.”

Jane’s expression twists in horror, tears brimming in her eyes. “He never sought medical treatment for you? How many times did you have to reset your bones, Luna?”

Rebel exhales a long, weary sigh. “No, like Austin mentioned, today was the very first time I’ve ever stepped foot in a hospital or met with a doctor. Dr. Hadley counted a total of twenty-three breaks, but two of them—likely from the initial injuries—still need to be reset.”

“Son of a bitch!” Jessup hisses, his fists clenching in anger. “When is that going to happen, Luna?”

“Dr. Hadley wants me to focus on regaining my strength and improving my nutrition first. She plans to see me again after the Luna Ceremony. If my lab results look good, then we’ll schedule the surgery to fix those two breaks properly,” Rebel explains, her voice steady despite the gravity of the situation.

I decide to shift the conversation, revealing another shocking truth. “That’s not all. It turns out Rebel has Alpha blood coursing through her veins. Not Beta blood.”

The room falls silent, shock etched on every face as their eyes widen in disbelief.

“Now that I think about it, my darling,” I muse, turning my gaze to her, “you truly are a genuine Alpha female. It explains so much.”

“Like what?” she asks, curiosity piqued.
