Chapter 102
I hadn’t tried going to his office.
I jumped up, changed into something presentable, and rehearsed my apology on the drive over.
By the time I reached his office building, my heart was hammering.
His assistant saw me and practically lit up. “Miss Emily! You’re free to go in, he’s inside.”
I paused at the door and took a breath that rattled all the way down.
Then I walked in.
He was behind his desk, typing something.
He looked up the moment I walked in, didn’t say a word. Just closed the laptop and leaned back.
I shut the door softly and crossed the room, heart in
my throat.
“Please, Liam,” I said quietly. “I’m sorry.”
“Apology accepted,” he said coolly. “Now you can leave.”
The words hit like ice water.
But I didn’t move. I walked to him. Reached for his hands.
“Please. I swear I didn’t mean what I said. I panicked. I was scared. But I’m ready now. Please talk to me.”
His gaze softened, and he let out a slow breath.
“This is why I didn’t want to see you,” he muttered. “Because the second I do, I forget everything.
I forget why I was mad. I just… I can’t stay mad when you’re in front of me.”
My throat burned.
“So… I’m forgiven?”
“Not so fast,” he said, eyes flicking with something darker. “You’re forgiven. But that doesn‘ mean there won’t be consequences.”

He patted his lap.
I raised a brow. “Seriously?”
He gave me a look.
So I sat.

His arms circled me, and for a second, it felt like no time had passed. Like I hadn’t spent days in hell without him.
“You didn’t cheat, did you?” I whispered.
“No.” His voice was quiet. “That photo? It was from a business meeting. That afternoon, I overheard Cassie on the phone. She was planning something. She said she’d try to win me back. That if you became a problem, she’d ‘handle‘ you.”
My stomach turned.
“I needed to figure out what she was playing at. That kiss?” He shook his head. “It was a mistake. One I still regret. But it was a message to her. That she doesn’t hold any power over me.”
“I knew you didn’t cheat,” I said.
“Then why punish me?”
“I wasn’t. I just… I was scared.”
He held my gaze.
I hesitated.
“Of what?”
“Emily,” he said softly. “Talk to me.”
I breathed in, shaky. “After the accident… the doctors said I might not be able to have children.”
He nodded slowly. “Sophia told me.”
“I’m terrified.”
“Emily,” he said, “you really thought that would change how I feel about you?”
“I didn’t know what to think,” I admitted. “I was just… broken.”
“I wish you’d told me sooner.” He cupped my jaw, eyes soft but steady. “You’re all I care about.

You. Not some hypothetical future. You.
My chest caved under the weight of it.
”
“And if, one day, you want kids, we’ll figure it out together.”
I blinked away tears. “I still don’t know why you love me.”
He smiled. “Because I don’t know how not to.”
“So what are you saying?”
“I miss being yours.”
“You’d still want me? After everything?”
“Absolutely.”
I smirked. “Are you asking me out again?”
“Is that how it sounds?”
I crossed my arms. “Well then… I’ll answer in two days.”
His eyes narrowed. “Is that so?”
I held his gaze, a slow smile spreading across my lips. “Yes. And I promise, you’ll love my
answer.

His eyes flickered with heat. “Good. Because now it’s time for your punishment.”
His lips crashed onto mine.

My hands threaded into his hair. His mouth was hot, hungry, and every kiss tasted like days of craving crashing into this one moment.
His hands were on my thighs. Mine on his chest.
When the door slammed open.
“Liam, please, Emily’s so…”
Sophia.
She stopped mid–sentence. Eyes widened. Mouth hanging open like she walked into a car crash.

I buried my face in Liam’s chest like it could swallow the embarrassment whole.
Sophia stood still, then slowly turned to face me.
“You,” she said, pointing. “Turn around. I want to see your shameless little face.”
Liam burst into loud, unapologetic laughter.
“You made me drive all the way here for this?” she snapped. “I came to beg on your behalf, and instead, I get a live screening of Fifty Shades of Office Furniture?”
She marched over and grabbed my arm.
“Your punishment is no office makeup sex. Let’s go, you little vixen.”
“Sophia, no!” I clung to Liam’s arm. “Don’t drag me away!”
Liam was smirking. “Oh, baby… don’t worry. You’ll definitely still get punished.”
Sophia groaned. “You two need cold water, a priest, and a sense of shame. And I need therapy.”
