**Shadows of the Past – By Emma Clarke**
**Chapter 332**
“Are you prepared?”
The gentle voice floated through the closed door, accompanied by a soft knock that echoed in the stillness.
Althea turned slightly, a faint smile gracing her lips. “Come in, Lydia.”
With a gentle push, Lydia opened the door and stepped into the room, her gaze immediately landing on Althea, who stood before the mirror in a simple yet elegant ivory gown. “I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that this day is actually here,” she exclaimed, her voice a blend of disbelief and joy, trembling with emotion.
“Neither can I,” Althea responded softly, her eyes fixed on her reflection, taking in the woman she had become. “I never envisioned myself marrying again… especially not to Daven.”
“He loves you, Thea. I see it in his eyes every single time he looks at you,” Lydia insisted, her voice filled with conviction.
Althea let out a gentle laugh, a sound that held both nostalgia and warmth. “You know, I never noticed that look before. But now… I finally grasp its meaning—love that blossoms after enduring pain.”
Lydia reached for Althea’s hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze that spoke volumes. “You deserve every bit of this happiness.”
Just then, the door swung open again. Kate appeared in the doorway, a bright smile illuminating her face, with Riana Miller standing beside her. “Sweetheart, everything is set,” Kate announced, her tone warm and inviting.
Riana stepped forward, her eyes sparkling with affection. “You look stunning, Althea. Chase would be overjoyed to see you today.”
A tear slipped down Althea’s cheek, glistening in the light. “Thank you, Riana. I truly believe he’s blessing this moment from above.”
Kate placed a comforting hand on Althea’s shoulder. “Come on, dear. Daven is waiting for you.”
In the quaint garden nestled behind the hotel, where the simple yet beautiful wedding ceremony was set to take place, Daven stood near the altar, adorned with white flowers that swayed gently in the breeze. His black suit exuded elegance, but what truly captured attention was the serene calmness etched on his face.
Arsen, standing beside him, leaned in with a teasing whisper, “I’ve never seen you so composed, Mr. Callister.”
Daven smiled softly, a hint of contentment in his eyes. “Perhaps it’s because, for the very first time, I know I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.”
As soft music began to play, Josh walked ahead, proudly carrying the rings, his small face radiating joy. Grace followed closely behind, scattering flower petals with an excited giggle, each petal fluttering down like tiny blessings.
All eyes turned as Althea made her entrance, slowly walking down the aisle with Kate and Riana flanking her. The moment Daven’s gaze locked onto hers, the world around them seemed to fade into silence.
“You’re breathtaking,” Daven whispered, almost unconsciously, as Althea reached him, his voice barely above a breath.
Althea smiled tenderly, her heart swelling with affection. “And you haven’t changed, Daven. You still make my heart race for reasons I can’t explain.”
The officiant smiled warmly, his presence filling the air with a sense of reverence. “We gather here today to unite two souls who have found their way back to each other.”
A soft breeze rustled through the garden, carrying the sweet scents of roses and jasmine, as if nature itself was celebrating this union.
