His Untamed Rose novel Chapter 48

Tonia nodded, understanding at once. “That’s no problem at all—piece of cake. But Lumina, I don’t get it. Banyan Town is bustling, and it’s your hometown. Why do you insist on moving to Seaburg?”

Lumina smiled, “Maybe it’s just that, once you hit a certain age, you start wanting a change of scenery.”

She pressed the timer beside her, letting the coffee steep.

Tonia couldn’t help but chuckle. “You’re barely older than me! Why do you act like you’re ready for retirement?”

Soon, the coffee was ready.

Tonia thanked her again, picked up the pot, and headed for the executive elevator.

The corridor was quiet and still, footsteps echoing in the air that carried a subtle, elegant fragrance—the cologne Cedric always wore. The scent made Tonia’s heart skip. She could hardly believe she’d finally set foot in his world, seeing for herself what his daily life was like.

Nervous and excited, she continued down the hallway, nearly colliding with Hilton.

Lumina had told her this was Cedric’s longest-serving assistant. Tonia quickly offered a warm greeting. “Hilton!”

“Tonia.” Hilton smiled and nodded back. “Welcome aboard. I haven’t had the chance to drop by and say hello these last couple of days.”

“Ms. Jardin’s been teaching me everything, down to the smallest detail,” Tonia said confidently. “You and Mr. Royce can count on me. I won’t let the company down.”

Hilton chuckled and nodded, but as his gaze dropped to the coffee pot in her hands, his smile faded a little.

“This is the coffee Ms. Jardin taught me to make. I’m bringing it up to Mr. Royce right now!” Tonia said brightly, hardly able to contain her anticipation as she hurried toward the executive office.

Had she finally learned to yield and come to him? Even made coffee for him, personally delivered.

Still, Cedric’s expression remained utterly composed, not a flicker of emotion betraying his thoughts.

He tapped the desk with a finger. “Just set it down.”

Tonia’s heart fluttered. She hurried over, placed the pot on his desk, and stood at attention beside him, too nervous to move.

Cedric glanced down, jotting notes in a neat, elegant script. “Why are you just standing there? Pour me a cup.”

Snapping out of her daze, Tonia fumbled to pour the coffee, and in her haste, accidentally spilled some over the rim.
