His Untamed Rose novel Chapter 64

It’s barely a few scraps of fabric!

Fuming, Lumina marched to the door. “Cedric!”

“Ms. Jardin, is something wrong?” Nancy was waiting just outside. “Mr. Royce is working in the study. If you need anything, just let me know.”

Swallowing her embarrassment, Lumina gritted her teeth and muttered, “Tell him I can’t possibly go out in this outfit!”

Nancy disappeared toward the study. After a moment, she returned, looking apologetic. “Ms. Jardin, Mr. Royce says if you won’t wear it, you might as well come out with nothing on at all.”

Lumina slammed the door in frustration. Leaning against the cool bathroom wall, she felt like she’d tumbled straight into the wolf’s den.

Still, with burning cheeks and a resigned sigh, she slowly slipped into the lacy garment.

It was nothing more than a sheer bralette, thin black tulle skimming her waist, the translucent fabric barely concealing what it needed to.

The effect was devastating—she couldn’t look away from her own reflection. Her face, free of makeup, looked fresh and unguarded, a kind of natural innocence that only made the provocative outfit more striking. The contrast was almost shocking.

She bundled herself tightly in her bathrobe and tiptoed out of the bathroom, hoping to make it to her room unnoticed.

But as she passed by Cedric’s study, the door swung open.

He stood there, tall and broad-shouldered, his deep eyes sweeping over her with unmistakable amusement as a slow grin curved his lips.

The heat of his gaze made her feel as exposed as if she’d worn nothing at all. Without sparing him a glance, she turned to leave.

He caught her waist from behind, his fingers slipping beneath the folds of her bathrobe. “Let me see. What’s so impossible about this outfit? Looks to me like you’re wearing it just fine.”

His hand lingered at her waist, making her breath hitch and her knees go weak. “I’m still sick... You brute!”

He nipped at her earlobe, murmuring shameless words that left her legs trembling.

Before she could protest, he pressed her back against the study door and kissed her hard, devouring her until she was breathless.

Only then did he gently wrap her robe around her, brushing a kiss across her lips. “Go take your medicine. I’ve asked Nancy to bring you some of your favorite nourishing soup.”

“I just ate a whole plate of apples. Are you trying to fatten me up like a pig?”

He chuckled, giving her cheek a playful pinch. “You need a little more meat on your bones, or people will think I’m mistreating you.”

Lumina slapped his hand away and rolled her eyes, striding back to her room.

Downstairs, as she passed the living room, a soft meow caught her attention from beneath the mahogany coffee table.

Bored, Lumina perked up and knelt to peek under the tablecloth. “Well, aren’t you a little cutie.”

A fluffy golden tabby crouched beneath the table, round emerald eyes eyeing her warily. With its plush coat and plump body, it looked for all the world like a furry, golden cushion.

“Come here, let me hold you.” Lumina loved animals and couldn’t resist.

But the little cat only mewed and shrank further back.

Undeterred, Lumina crawled under the table after it, trying to coax it out. Suddenly, voices drifted in from the hallway—

“Cedric, your place looks fantastic since the remodel. Very tasteful.”

“Hmm. Hired a designer. If you want to update your old house, I’ll give you their number.”

The conversation grew louder. Lumina’s heart skipped a beat as she scrambled to get out from under the table.

But just as she lifted the edge of the tablecloth, the front door swung open.
