"Alright," Samuel said. "Ms. Connors and I will be waiting for you at home so we can have dinner together."
"Okay."
Tessa sighed in relief after she cut the call. That had been too close. She had nearly exposed the truth to Samuel. Also, why on earth was Stephen so good at flirting?
Stephen stared at Tessa, his interest piqued. He had a smile on his lips as he teased her, "You're all grown up, Tess, yet your parents are still so protective of you. It's only 7:00 pm, but they're already asking you to go home for dinner with them."
She ignored his teasing. She was the very picture of seriousness when she said, "I'll be taking my leave now. As for the documents, have someone send them over to the law firm tomorrow."
His expression dimmed as he watched Tessa quietly without responding. She rose to her feet and left the room while Stephen stared at her retreating back. The spacious room suddenly felt too cold.
…
The next morning, Tessa dropped by the law firm to work. She spotted the five cardboard boxes the moment she stepped into her office.
Two of them were filled with the case file documents that she had flipped through in Stephen's break room the day before, while the other three were the Valentine's Day presents he had gifted to her.
She had already opened one of the presents the day before—a beautiful white, crocodile-skin handbag with a matte finish.
Tessa frowned slightly. When she told Stephen to send the boxes to the law firm last night, she had meant just the two boxes of case file documents. He wasn't supposed to have sent the presents as well.
Tessa dialed Stephen's number. It didn't take long at all for him to pick up. "Is something the matter, Tess?" he asked.
She didn't beat around the bush and said, "Take the presents back. I really don't need them."
"I'm not wasting my money if the presents are for you," he countered.
"I don't want them," Tessa declared drily.
"Fine. Then, you should tell me what you want."
Tessa sighed. "Don't pretend like you don't understand what I'm saying, Stephen. I don't want anything from you."
There was only silence at the other end of the line. Without waiting for his response, Tessa continued, "That's all for now. Goodbye." She then cut the call.
In the end, Tessa didn't send the three handbags back to Stephen. They were around a million dollars each. It would be a shame if Stephen threw them away as he said he would. Tessa packed up the bags and carelessly stored them in one of the lockers in the law firm.

The readers' comments on the novel: His Unveiled Passion
I know this isn’t Stephen’s fault but I still hated how he was so careless around this bitch even after Tessa already told him it’s obvious that this bitch likes him and she looked at Tessa with hostility. If Tessa breaks up with him again, I’ll even support her. Ugh. Good luck on winning Tessa back again, Stephen. Tss. I so hate these updates....
Nooooo! Not again! We don't need a twist like this. Is it too hard for the writer to conclude with..."and they live happily ever after"?...
Finally getting Stephen and Tess back together then to tear them apart with foolishness. This is craziness...
Yuhohoooo!!! Finally!!!...
Aaand~ Tessa and Stephen are finally back together! Yaaaaay!...
Why make an uninteresting, irrelevant twist when readers are waiting for Tess and Stephen to be together?...
Gosh just let Tessa and Stephen get back together already! Ugh...
Oh my god, when is this book finishing... they're not even back together yet and more nonsense side plots.....
Whoa! Hahahahahaha! Go, Sophia! Burn, stupid Rowena! Lol...
Sooo~ Chapters 310-318 were just a repeat of Jacqueline’s punishment, official expulsion from the Jacobson family, and arrest. With few changes since Tessa and Stephen are not together this time. So Tessa didn’t witness how Jacqueline was tortured at Stephen’s base, though at least Tessa was still called over and witnessed how Stephen officially expelled Jacqueline from the Jacobson family and how Stephen’s subordinate made Jacqueline grovel in front of Tessa. Lol. I hope Jacqueline’s really out of the story now....
