Elodie had thought it would take her a while to adjust, but it wasn't as difficult as she had imagined.
Jarrod didn't lash out at her. He was calmer than she expected. She had thought he would despise the Harcourt family and her.
But the days since their wedding had been peaceful.
More importantly, Jarrod seemed to be quite a homebody.
He came home every day.
Instead of going to his study, he would sit in the living room and work. She couldn't understand it. Did Jarrod have that much work? Why not finish it at the office instead of bringing it home?
As a result, whenever she came out of her bedroom—whether to get water, water the plants, or do any small task—she would always see him.
Elodie couldn't help but feel a little curious about her new husband.
She finished pouring a glass of water and was about to head back to her room.
"Going to bed?" Jarrod suddenly glanced at her.
Elodie nodded.
Jarrod's expression remained neutral, but inside, he felt that his wife was being too distant.
He had been making himself conspicuous for days, yet she showed no intention of trying to connect with him.
He tilted his chin towards her. "Can we talk?"
Elodie's nerves tensed for a moment.
She was afraid he was about to bring up divorce.
Malcom Harcourt hadn't given her a clear answer yet. If she was "kicked out" this soon, Malcom would surely go back on his promise.
She clutched her water glass and walked over.
As she approached, the man on the sofa held out his hand, offering her a black card.
Elodie looked at him, confused.
He met her gaze calmly. "The renovation for our marital home will cost a lot. If you have a particular style in mind, you can discuss it with the designer yourself. Use only the best materials for everything."
Elodie was taken aback. "So you're not talking about a divorce?"
Jarrod's eyelid twitched. For a moment, he couldn't hold back. "In your dreams, Elodie."
