How to Train Your Ex-Billionaire novel Chapter 89

Teresa said, 'Yetta, that bracelet you're wearing is gorgeous. Where did you get it?'

'This one? I bought it at an auction,' Yetta Brown said, holding up her wrist. 'Do you like it? If you do, you can have it.'

Teresa's eyes lit up, but she feigned reluctance. 'Oh, I couldn't.'

'Why not? It's just something that costs a few tens of thousands,' Yetta said, already unclasping the bracelet and handing it to Teresa.

Teresa accepted it with delight. 'Thank you, Yetta.'

More guests arrived, and Yetta Brown smiled at Winifred. 'I'm going to go greet them. You can chat with Teresa and the others.'

Winifred nodded.

After Yetta left, Teresa and her friends treated Winifred like she was invisible, chatting amongst themselves about their clothes and jewelry, name-dropping limited editions and designer brands.

Winifred didn't know anything about these topics and couldn't join the conversation. She could clearly see their disdain for her and had no desire to force herself on them. Instead, she just scrolled through her phone, planning to make an excuse and leave in a little while.

At one point, Winifred got up to use the restroom.

Winifred had only just left when one of the girls immediately turned to Teresa. 'Who does she think she is? The nerve of her to show up at your nephew's birthday party?'

Teresa sneered, 'Only because Yetta is too nice. You can tell at a glance she's just here to network with rich people.'

Another girl teased, 'Well, she is quite pretty. Your Yvan is supposed to be coming later. You'd better watch out, or she might try to seduce him.'

'Her?' Teresa scoffed. 'Her entire outfit probably costs less than a thousand dollars. She reeks of cheapness. Do you really think Yvan's taste is that bad?'

'Exactly. And look at the gift she brought,' the first girl said, pointing to the remote-controlled car on the table. 'A few hundred bucks. How embarrassing?'

'Thinking she can buy her way into high society for a few hundred dollars.'

The group laughed, amusing themselves at Winifred's expense.

Winifred stood behind them, her face pale.
