Chasing His Wolfless Luna Back (Rayna Quinn) novel Chapter 133

The Barrier Between Us2

But he didn’t leave immediately. He bent down and placed a gentle kiss on my forehead. The gesture was so tender, yet it made my whole body tense. Before I could say or do anything, he had already turned and left, softly closing the door behind him.

I stared at the closed door, completely stunned by what had just happened. What the

fuck? Sebastian was never one to give up easily. His position had made him accustomed to

commanding and controlling everything, never accepting rejection. But today, he seemed

like a different person, leaving simply because it was what I wanted, even though I could

tell it wasn’t what he wanted?

I settled back further into the bed, slowly regaining my strength, thinking about and processing what he had told me. Of course, it was hard to believe him. I mean, this was

Sebastian. The same Sebastian who told me I would never measure up to Aurora or the

woman he loved.

What the hell was going on? I asked myself but got no answer.

If any other man had told me he would give up Aurora, I might have believed it. But not

Sebastian. Definitely not Sebastian.

I had too many questions but no answers. All these questions gave me a headache, so I

pushed them aside. Whatever was going on in Sebastian’s head was no longer my concern.

Trying to figure out his thoughts was no longer my place to do or think about.

Exhaustion took over, and I closed my eyes, drifting off to sleep without realizing it.

When I woke up again, I saw Seraphina and Maximus sitting by the hospital bed, each

holding one of my hands. Seeing their eyes, as tired as mine but still full of love, an unprecedented feeling of security surrounded me.

Once again, this was the kind of unconditional love I had craved since childhood. The

kind I never truly received from the Sterlings or from Sebastian. And now that I finally had it, I couldn’t allow myself to dream of more.

“You’re awake,” Seraphina said softly, tears in her eyes, “How are you feeling, dear?”

My throat suddenly constricted, and my eyes grew moist. I blinked, trying to hold back the tears, but it was useless.

“I never thought anyone would care about me the way you do, I managed to say with difficulty, “Thank you for being here, thank you for being the parents I always imagined.”

“My little girl,” Maximus’s voice was warm and strong, “you don’t know what it means to us to hear those words. We love you, deeper than anything.”

Seraphina leaned in, embracing me gently. “We’ll always be by your side, Thea. Always.”

A nurse’s arrival interrupted this tender moment.

“Thea, the doctor says you can be discharged,” she smiled kindly.

“The bullet was removed, the doctors gave her the antidote, and her wolf is recovering. She’ll be able to heal the wound soon,” Roman answered me.
