Chasing His Wolfless Luna Back (Rayna Quinn) novel Chapter 206

Morning Interrupted

Thea’s POV

I woke up slowly, discovering that half my body was draped over Sebastian’s chest, his arm wrapped securely around my waist. His chest rose and fell in a steady rhythm beneath my cheek, his skin warm against mine. The intimacy of our position made us look like a – couple deeply in love.

If only that were true.

Throughout our marriage, love had only ever flowed in one direction. Mine for him. Never his for me.

I carefully lifted my head from his chest, not wanting to disturb him. I needed some time alone to process the chaos since waking from my coma. Though it had only been two days, every moment felt like riding a roller coaster blindfolded. I couldn’t decide whether

to trust the changes I was seeing or trust my gut instinct that something was off.

Phoenix’s bottle sat on the nightstand. She’d woken several times during the night. I’d fed her the first couple times, but the last time, Sebastian had insisted I keep sleeping while

he took care of her. I’d been too exhausted to argue.

I quietly slipped on my robe and left the bedroom, checking on Phoenix and Leo before

making my way downstairs. It was Saturday, so Leo didn’t have school, and everyone could sleep in.

Mary was already busy in the kitchen when I arrived.

“Good morning, Luna,” she greeted with a smile, wiping down the counters.

“Good morning, Mary. Please, call me Thea. All those pack titles are too formal,” I replied,

trying to sound friendly.

“Do you need any help?” She immediately stopped what she was doing, ready to assist.

“No, thank you. If it’s alright, I’d like to make breakfast for my family myself.

She beamed. “Of course! Leo will be thrilled. He’s been complaining that my pancakes don’t taste like yours.” She winked.

I couldn’t help but laugh, easily picturing Leo’s pouty complaints. The smile faded as I thought about the pain he must have endured during my coma.

After Mary left, I started gathering ingredients, struck by a strange sense of disconnect. In the past, Sebastian hardly touched anything I made. He was rarely home for breakfast, and even for dinner, he’d make only brief appearances. The only exception was when Leo insisted we eat as a family, but even then, Sebastian would take a few symbolic bites before excusing himself to work.

It hurt–knowing he wanted nothing from me, as if everything I offered was poison. Eventually, I learned to accept it, though it broke my heart. For Leo’s sake, I endured.

I always tried my hardest to shield Leo from Sebastian’s disrespect and indifference toward me. Leo thought we were happy, and I would do anything to ensure his happiness, including pretending our marriage was perfect.

Chapter 206 1

If I hadn’t been so upset, I might have been surprised by this tender gesture.

I can’t remember the recipe for Leo’s favorite pancakes!” I cried, gripping the counter like it was my lifeline, afraid I’d fall apart if I let go. “I know there was a secret ingredient I used to add, but I can’t fucking remember what it was.”

It’s okay, don’t worry about it,” he tried to soothe me, but it wasn’t working.

“You don’t understand,” I pulled away from his embrace. “It’s not just this. I can’t even see the measurement units clearly, and I can’t remember how you like Goddammit, I’m struggling to even read some words!
