Chasing His Wolfless Luna Back (Rayna Quinn) novel Chapter 261

Thea’s POV

The conversation shifted to something lighter after then. I was fully immersed in the moment, savoring every second. It felt like a dream, and I didn’t want this date to end. We talked for hours under the moonlight about absolutely everything.

It was like we were actual friends. The conversation flowed naturally; we talked, laughed, and played those stupid high school games. Everything felt so perfect, and for once, I felt like I was with the right person.

“Would you rather…” Sebastian pondered, tapping his chin. “Have the ability to read minds or be invisible?”

“Read minds, definitely.” I leaned back on my elbows on the blanket. “Can you imagine how much easier life would be? No more guessing what people are thinking.”

He raised an eyebrow. “Really? You’d want to know every dark, twisted thought that crosses people’s minds?”

“Hmm, good point,” I conceded. “But being invisible isn’t much better. I’ve spent most of my life being invisible already.”

The moment I said it, I regretted bringing up the past. Sebastian’s face fell slightly, guilt flickering across his features.

“Shit, I didn’t mean to-”

“No, you’re right,” he said softly. “I made you feel invisible for far too long.” He reached out and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. “But I see you now, Thea. I see all of you.”

I smiled, feeling something warm spread through my chest. “Your turn. Would you rather

be able to fly or breathe underwater?”

“Fly, no question,” he answered immediately. “I’ve always envied birds their freedom.”

I looked at him curiously. “Freedom? I never thought the mighty Alpha Sebastian

Ashworth would feel constrained.”

He shrugged, his gaze drifting to the stars above us. “There’s a difference between having power and having freedom. Sometimes the more responsibility you have, the less free your actually are.”

I hadn’t expected such a thoughtful answer. It was just another layer of Sebastian I was discovering tonight.

When we finally packed up to leave, it was well past midnight. I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face during the entire drive home, feeling like I was finally getting a chance at the life I’d always dreamed of.

“Thank you for tonight. I really enjoyed myself,” I told Sebastian as we got out of the car.

He took my hand in his and led me to the door. “Me too. I can’t believe I never took you out on a date before. I plan on doing it more often from now on.”

We entered the house. The lights were still on, but Mary was nowhere to be seen. She was probably in Leo’s room or the guest room next door.

I paused and looked around the place. I’d always assumed Sebastian had designed and built this house with Aurora in mind. I didn’t mind the exterior of the house, I just hated the interior decorations because they were to Aurora’s taste, not mine.

“What’s wrong?” he asked when he noticed me stop.

“Nothing.”

“Thea, please. If something’s bothering you, tell me,” he almost begged.
