Chasing His Wolfless Luna Back (Rayna Quinn) novel Chapter 268

Thea’s POV

I looked outside; we were parked in front of my biological parents house in the city.

He got out of the car, opened my door, and helped me unbuckle Phoenix. After he finished, I thanked him and walked toward the house,

Phoenix was a bit fussy, and I was certain it was because she was hungry or the car ride had made her uncomfortable,

Before I could knock, the door opened, and Seraphina’s excited face greeted us.

I’m so glad you came,” she said jubilantly, and despite my inner turmoil, I smiled at her excitement.

“Hi, I said softly, awkwardly.

She hugged me tightly, careful not to hurt Phoenix. Maximus appeared behind her and did the same. In their embrace, I felt something Fd never experienced with the Sterlings. Warmth, safety, and peace.

“Come in… I’ve been anxiously waiting for you to arrive,” she said as she led me inside.

“She’s right… she was so excited, like watching a kid in a candy store Maximus said.

Seraphina playfully swatted his chest. “Stop pretending, old man, you were just as bad,” then she turned to me. “He’s been asking about his little granddaughter nonstop.”

Their playful banter and the love shining in their eyes gave me an uncomfortable feeling. This was what I’d always wanted to have with Sebastian. Only, I wasn’t sure we’d ever get it.

Seraphina and Maximus were what you’d call childhood sweethearts, still together to this day. Sebastian and Aurora were high school lovers, and I couldn’t help but wonder if they would’ve stayed together if not for me. If my obsession hadn’t torn them apart. I guess, deep down, that was one of the things I was struggling with in my relationship with Sebastian. That, and my missing

memories.

When we reached the living room, I covered myself to feed Phoenix. After she finished, I burped her, and Seraphina immediately took her from my arms. I didn’t mind because I needed to calm myself down.

I watched them play with her, trying to organize my thoughts. I’d come here to tell them I was ready to give them a chance, but my mind was elsewhere. I was a mess, I admitted. My thoughts were all over the place, and I felt like I needed to make a decision.

“I can see something’s bothering you, dear. Care to share?” Seraphina’s sweet, soft voice pulled me from my contemplation.

I looked at her, then at Maximus, wondering if I should talk to them. I needed advice. Iris was on Sebastian’s side; from what I’d learned, she’d always been. As for my biological parents, they didn’t really like Sebastian, so I didn’t know if their advice would be

biased.

Seraphina played with Phoenix, then turned to me: “I figured as much.

Chapter 268 1

“That said, I witnessed how he was when you were hospitalized. He lived like a part of him had been torn away and killed. He was just a shadow, silently waiting for you. He slept beside you at the hospital practically every night, just in case you woke up that day and the first person you’d see would be him.”
