Chapter 310

“I won’t…” Lauren looked panicked. “Carter, you can’t fall for the Ravelles‘ tricks! They obviously want to have total control over you!”

Carter didn’t let her words influence him this time. He knew very well that losing this child wouldn’t affect him in any way. On the other hand, if he kept it around, he would be on Liam’s bad side.

He vowed to remember this. He was also determined to get even with the Ravelles the day he no longer needed them.

“Lauren, just do it for my sake, please. I owe you for this, and I’ll make it up to you.” Carter caught

Lauren’s hand.

She tried to shake him off but failed. “I don’t want to!”

Glen was already waiting outside the hospital room. He walked in when he heard the noise. When Carter shot him a look, he immediately grabbed Lauren and started pulling her out.

Holly arrived, looking flustered. “What is-

“Ms. Sanders, please arrange for her to have an abortion. I want it as soon as possible.” Carter

couldn’t bear to see Lauren’s tears.

Holly was stunned. “What? Why would you suddenly-”

“Carter, this is our baby! Are you really going to do this to me because of the Ravelle family?” Lauren struggled with all her might.

“Abortions can’t be forced, Mr. Jamison. If Lauren is unwilling, you can’t do this,” Holly said.

Carter looked at Lauren. “Lauren, I’m doing this for both of us. I don’t have any other choice. If you refuse to do this, I won’t ever show up in front of you anymore.”

Was he threatening her? Was he going to cut ties with her if she refused to have the abortion?

Tears streamed down Lauren’s face. “I don’t even care about my life, Carter. You… You’ve broken my heart.”

Carter was racked with guilt, but he didn’t have a choice!

Meanwhile, Glen couldn’t stand Lauren’s act. He said in a low voice, “You don’t need to keep bringing up that you chose not to get treatment for the baby’s sake. The heavens are watching, you know.”

Lauren stiffened and turned to give him a sinister look.

“Ms. Sanders, please arrange for her to have an abortion.”

Holly looked at Lauren. The latter said nothing, but Holly knew her silence meant acquiescence.

It only took a little over half an hour to schedule the surgery and proceed with it. Right before entering the operating room, Lauren turned to look at Carter in despair. “Carter, are you really going to do this?”

He walked over to her and pulled her into his arms. “I owe you and the baby this, Lauren. I’ll

remember it forever.”

If she was destined not to keep the baby, she could at least hold on to his guilt. She was grief–stricken

as she headed into the operating room, her face wet with tears.

Holly stayed by her side throughout the entire ordeal.

“Holly, can you help me trick him with this?” Lauren asked. She wanted to keep the child. She knew that it would be a big help to her in the future!

Holly said, “I can try if it’s what you want.”

“Ms. Sanders, the patient’s family wants to see you.

“Alright.” Holly changed out of her scrubs and stepped out of the room. “Mr. Jamison?”

Carter stood before the window, half his face shrouded in shadows. He turned to her and said grimly, “Show me the fetus after the procedure. I’ll wait here, so make it fast.”

Holly swallowed. “I understand.”

She returned to the operating room, looking conflicted. “Lauren, Mr. Jamison told me to show him the fetus after the procedure.”

“What?” Lauren swayed on her feet. Was Carter really going to be this heartless? “Can we use another child to fool him?”

“He’s waiting right outside,” Holly said. “What if he wants to see it with his own eyes?”

Lauren clenched her fists as she trembled with rage. She believed that this was all happening because Rhea was jealous of her. That was why she had used the Ravelle family’s power and influence to force Carter into doing this to her!

If only Lauren’s family hadn’t fallen from grace… Still, she knew full well that even if nothing had happened to the Thayer family, it could never compare to the Ravelle family.

“Do I have no choice but to accept my fate, Holly?” Lauren lay down, looking bitter.

Holly didn’t know what to say to make her feel better. “Just tell yourself you’re taking a nap.”

As the anesthesia took over, all Lauren could think of was Rhea. She vowed to make Rhea pay for her baby’s life!

An hour later, Carter saw the fetus with his own eyes. His eyes were laced with heartache but not hesitation. He turned away and said, “You guys deal with it. And give me the surgery slip.”

Holly didn’t understand what he wanted it for, but she gave it to him anyway.

Lauren was back in her hospital room about 40 minutes later, and she was awake. She placed a hand on her abdomen without shedding a single tear.

“Take care of yourself and recover well, Lauren. I’ll come see you once I’m done with what I need to do,” Carter said.

She said nothing and simply lay there, her face pale.

Carter’s guilt deepened when he saw her like that. If not for the Ravelle family forcing this, he wouldn’t have to lose yet another child.
