At that thought, Lauren turned to the side. Out of Andrew’s sight, she looked at Carter with pitiful eyes that were full of grievance. She wanted him to believe that she was only suffering through all this and that she had no choice. (1)

Carter slammed his hand against the window. Andrew’s driver, Cameron Grant, tried to stop him.

Furious, Carter told Cameron, “Tell your boss that woman’s no good. She dumped her husband and abandoned her kids. She’ll go with whoever’s got money. She even pretended she had cancer just for money!”

He laughed bitterly at himself. He had been such a fool. Only now did he realize who Lauren really

Cameron hesitated before answering in the same language, “He said that this woman is no good. She abandoned her husband and kids and will go with whoever has money. He also said that she once faked having cancer for money.”

Andrew’s expression didn’t change. Not a hint of surprise showed on his face. Yet his gaze slid to Lauren, layered with meaning.

Lauren felt uneasy. Since she couldn’t understand what they were saying, she put on a careful smile. “Andy, let’s go. We’re blocking traffic.”

Andrew smiled. His hand remained at her waist as he said, “Alright.”

Abandoned her husband and kids? Lauren had never mentioned having children. She had only told him that she was once engaged and pregnant.

Everyone liked this kind of pure, innocent woman. But she had actually lied to him. Did she think he was that easy to fool and that his money was that easy to take?

Andrew changed his mind. He ordered Cameron, “To the hotel.”
