Chapter 361
In the middle of the blizzard, Kate shoved the household staff holding her umbrella aside..
She looked at Liora and Valerie and asked, “Do you really think Rhea’s genuinely friends with you? What does being a friend even mean? When interests clash, stepping back makes someone a good friend, and standing your ground makes someone malicious? Then why can’t she step back?
“I’ve known George for so long. I’ve spent such a long time with him. Why does everything belong to her the moment she shows up? Why don’t I even get a chance to compete?”
From start to finish, Kate’s tone didn’t waver at all. She spoke so calmly, as if she were strolling through a garden.
But that only made Valerie feel more unsettled. She thought that people who wouldn’t show their emotions were terrifying.
Liora said, “Valerie, let’s go.”
Valerie didn’t argue with Kate. “All I can tell you is, neither my family nor my in–laws will lend your family any help. If you think what you’re doing is right, then go ahead and do whatever you want.”
With that, Valerie got into her car. The wheels kicked up a swirl of snow that swept against Kate’s coat.
“Liora.”
Just as Liora was about to leave, Kate called after her.
When Liora turned around, she saw Kate walking toward her. The latter’s voice was as gentle as ever as she said, “I know that it was George who did this to my family. Could I ask you to help me reach him? At least give me a chance to save my parents.”
Her parents couldn’t go to jail, especially over an accusation of taking bribes from students. Such a scandal would ruin the Pearson family’s decades–long reputation.
“Since it’s been done, what’s there to fear?” Liora frowned. “I really regret it. I shouldn’t have slipped and let you find out about George’s feelings so early. You must have been thinking about this for a long time, right?”
Kate pressed her lips together. “Liora, feelings aren’t that simple. I crossed a line, and I understand why you’re upset. But my family shouldn’t be dragged into this.”
Liora’s voice rose. “But everything you’ve done has dragged Rhea’s parents into it!”
Kate frowned.
With a loud bang, Liora slammed the car door and told the driver, “Drive!”
All her friends left, leaving Kate standing alone in the snowstorm.
“Ms. Pearson…”
Kate closed her eyes briefly. “It’s fine. When there’s a will, there’s a way. We’ll find someone to help.”
Lance Waite, the Pearson family’s butler, thought for a moment. “Should we reach out to someone from Eryham? I heard that the Austin family has the world’s top legal team.”
“The Austin family from Eryham?”
Kate suddenly remembered.
Lance continued, “Back when you took that sketching class, you were classmates with the Austin family’s heiress.”
Elena?

Chapter 361
Kate remembered her, though they hadn’t kept in touch after she stopped attending the class. After a pause, Kate took a long look at the Ravelle residence before saying, “Let’s go.”

On Boxing Day, Elena, having accepted Kate’s invitation, arrived early at the restaurant they had agreed on.
She had recently been trying to win over Nathan and had gotten nothing but rejection.
Knowing that Kate had a good relationship with Rhea, she didn’t hesitate when Kate reached out and came all the way from Eryham to Draventh.
As she was about to get out of the car, she saw a scene by the roadside.
Kate was just stepping out, too, but there was a woman behind her.
The woman was dressed suspiciously, and when she turned around, Elena caught a glimpse of her profile.
When she saw that it was Lauren, Elena wondered why Kate was hanging out with her.
