Chapter 391
“Mr. Snider, what an honor to have you here.” Sawyer smiled and extended his hand.
George stepped out of the elevator and shook it firmly. “Mr. Burton. I’ve heard a lot about you.”
Sawyer personally led the way. “This way, please.”
The two of them spoke privately in the VIP lounge for nearly 40 minutes.
When the door finally opened, Sawyer said, “Mr. Snider, I’m looking forward to a successful partnership.”
“I’m sure it will be.”
Sawyer escorted him all the way downstairs and only returned to his office after seeing him off in the car.

Following Sawyer’s instructions, Winston entered the office. “Mr. Burton, did I hear you right? Are you going to sell that medicine?”
“Not sell. Give,” Sawyer replied.
When the medicine was first developed, they signed a contract with the investors stating that it would be supplied only to their hospital and not sold externally.
But this time, George didn’t just bring a contract. He practically handed over all the profits to Zolantix Pharmaceuticals. The only thing he asked for was that medicine. And it wasn’t for business, but to save a life.
Sawyer was a businessman, and businessmen never turned down such a deal.
Winston nodded. “But it’ll take at least two weeks for the new batch to be ready.”
Kate had spent the whole day with Evie at the hospital. This day, she planned to go home, freshen up, and change into a new
outfit.
But halfway there, something crossed her mind, and she turned back toward Draventh First Hospital.
She had intended for Rhea to be blamed for poisoning the kids, ruining her reputation so thoroughly that the Sniders would cut ties and push her out.
When that happened, Kate believed that she would have a chance with George.
But things had changed. Evie’s condition was worsening by the day, and time was running out.
Accepting that cruel truth, Kate made her decision. She wanted Evie to see her married before she met her end. And the man she intended to marry could only be George.
So, she changed course. She no longer planned to hurt those kids.
Evie’s time was short. Kate needed to move faster and make George turn to her for help.
Fortunately, Sawyer, the CEO of Zolantix Pharmaceuticals, was once Connor’s and Evie’s student.
Since it was only a few pills, Kate was sure that he would do her parents that favor.
With the medicine, she would have a favor to call in. Then, she could use it to try to get George.
In the ward, only Rhea and Philip were present. Carter had gone scouring the city for a medicine that could treat the children.

Philip frowned the moment Kate walked in. “Ms. Pearson?”
Smiling, she nodded, then turned to Rhea. “Rhea, I know a medicine that can cure the kids.”
Rhea’s tone was cool. “We already know.”
Kate was stunned. “The lab test results are out?”
She couldn’t believe it had been that quick.
“Perfect, then. I heard that the medicine is only available at Zolantix, and as it happens, I know their CEO.”
At that moment, George entered, carrying a fruit salad he had prepared himself. Without so much as a glance at Kate, he went straight to Rhea’s side and sat.
Kate pulled back her gaze and went on, “Zolantix’s CEO was my parents‘ student. I still have his number. The medicine isn’t sold publicly, but I could ask him for a favor. George, could you spare some time tomorrow to go with me to Zolantix?”
Rhea arched her brow.
It seemed that Kate was revealing her intentions, which was unlike her–unless she was the one behind it all and rushing to get results.
George acted as if he hadn’t heard her. He speared a piece of fruit with his fork and held it to Rhea’s lips. She took a bite, and he brushed a thumb across the corner of her mouth to wipe away a trace of sauce.
They were so affectionate that Kate felt like a thief, spying on their happiness. Her chest tightened, and a cold sensation Spread through her like ice water.
Rhea turned her head toward her and said, “There’s no rush. The kids‘ conditions are stable now, and we’ve already made arrangements for the medicine.”
Kate blurted, “But only Zolantix’s medicine can treat this toxin. Nothing else will work.”
Rhea narrowed her eyes and asked, “Where did you hear about that medicine? And how do you know so much about this toxin, Kate?”
Kate had never studied medicine and had no background in toxicology.
Keeping her expression steady, she lied with ease. “I asked Carter. I was worried about the kids, too. You’ve raised them, after all.”
As she spoke, she cast a glance at George. Then, she added, “Whatever conflicts we have are between us. But the kids are innocent.”
Rhea nodded slowly. “Oh, so you asked Carter.”
“Yeah.” Kate smiled, but the smile froze almost instantly.
Rhea had unblocked Carter’s number right in front of her and dialed it right then and there.
