“Mr. Whitfield, aren’t you worried that she’ll run?” Rudy asked.

Seamus organized the files on his laptop. “Where can she go? Her family’s rooted here.”

Not that it mattered if Kate really did make a run for it. Connor and Evie speaking up on her behalf would achieve the same result.

Meanwhile, at the Ravelle residence, Ruby was worried about Rhea. “Who did you say made a move?”

She wasn’t as composed as Liam was.

Liam leaned back against the headboard after taking his medication. “Villains will always meet their match.”

“Their match?” Ruby mulled it over, unable to think of who he was referring to.

Liam took off his glasses and started doing eye exercises. “George has a secretary who used to be a high–school literature teacher who moonlighted as an author. He later joined Snider Group and started as a regular secretary. It took him only four years to become chief secretary, and he has George’s full trust.”

“He’s the one handling this?” Ruby looked doubtful. “He may be good at secretarial work, but can he handle personal matters like this?”

Liam opened his eyes and looked at her. “He once made two of Snider Group’s business partners pass out due to frustration.”

Seamus‘ words were sharp and backed by logic, yet so cutting that no one could find fault to argue back. One had no choice but to swallow one’s anger and simmer.

A two–month negotiation had ended with Seamus making the boss of one of the two partner companies pass out due to frustration. They hadn’t wanted to offend Snider Group, yet they also wanted nothing else to do with Seamus. Ultimately, they signed the contract as soon as possible just to get him off their backs!

“For someone like Kate, the method I used with Carter won’t work. She won’t stop until she achieves her goal.” Liam lay down.” Just relax.”

Back in the hospital corridor, Seamus was still waiting. He was used to staying up late at night.

“Mr. Whitfield, maybe you should get some rest in the car. It’s still dark outside,” a bodyguard said.

Seamus said, “It’s fine. I’m not sleepy.”

He was busy. He had yet to complete the task George had assigned to him.

“Mr. Whitfield, you don’t need to push yourself so hard,” Rudy said.

Seamus took a sip of water. “I need to do the salary Mr. Snider pays me justice.”

He used to be a literature teacher with a modest, fixed income. The money was enough to put food on the table, but there was no way he could save anything.

Later, after a series of events, he ended up at Snider Group as a secretary. If George hadn’t given him a chance, he wouldn’t have been where he was.

As George’s secretary, all expenses he made during business trips could be claimed with no set limit. That wasn’t all. Each time George had a suit tailored, he would get one for Seamus, too.

When Seamus‘ son was born, George had generously gifted him a spacious apartment and a million–dollar car, even arranging his son’s future schooling.

Rudy didn’t know what to say in response. He didn’t think that Seamus was considered a workhorse–not with the benefits he got. Even if he were, he was a top–tier workhorse.

As the sky slowly brightened, Seamus said to Rudy, “Ask them whether they’ll contact the media themselves or need my help doing it.”

Rudy hurried off. A moment later, he returned, looking upset as he said, “They said they’ll do it themselves.”

“Alright. I’ll reach out to the media now,” Seamus said breezily.

Rudy was taken aback. “But they said they’d do it.”

“I was just being polite. What kind of media would they get? The videos and articles posted will probably just end up on an account with fewer than a hundred subscribers.”

Seamus made the call. Within two minutes, at 8:00 am sharp, a swarm of reporters filled the hospital corridor. They stood in orderly silence, not daring to make a single sound.

Seamus walked over to them and said softly, “Remember to make Mrs. Pearson and Ms. Pearson look good when you film them or snap photos of them later. At the very least, people need to be able to recognize them. We should be kind to the ladies.”
