Chapter 414
“Anything that has to do with one’s health is no laughing matter. You need to stay healthy so you can have a blissful life with your future grandchildren and great–grandchildren. Don’t be like my mother -leaving this world with regrets,” Kate said.
Cynthia patted her hand. “My condolences to you.”
She wasn’t surprised by Evie’s death. More likely than not, cancer patients would end up being no more than skin and bones toward the end. They would look awful.
Evie cared deeply about her appearance, so Cynthia reckoned that the very thought was unbearable
to her.
However, Cynthia didn’t know the real reason behind Evie’s suicide as George hadn’t mentioned anything.
In fact, Seamus had prepared himself for the possibility of dealing with the fallout from that. To his surprise, Kate hadn’t harped on about it.
And so…
“Mr. Whitfield, this is the place.” Rudy pointed to the hospital across the road.
Seamus had followed Kate abroad. She had indeed taken in the sights elsewhere for the first few days, but her hotel wasn’t in this area. She had actually driven more than two hours just to reach Cynthia’s hotel.
It was as clear as day what she was up to.
Seamus slipped on his gold–rimmed glasses and asked Rudy, “Don’t you think I’m like a psychotic stalker?”
Rudy blurted, “No stalker would be as sharp–tongued as you.”
After all, Seamus was a man who could verbally spar with a woman until she cried.
Seamus was taken aback. “What?”
Rudy immediately changed his tune. “I said, no stalker would look as refined and gentlemanly as you. Stalkers all look creepy. One look at them is enough to tell you that they’re up to no good.
“You, on the other hand, wear tailor–made suits, glasses designed by masters, and drive a million- dollar luxury car to get around. You’re worlds apart from a stalker!”
Seamus couldn’t help but feel that Rudy had gotten better with his words since fainting out of fright at Evie’s suicide. It didn’t bother him, of course. Perhaps he would take Rudy to the crematorium for

As they checked into the hotel with two bodyguards and a driver, Kate brought Cynthia back.
Cynthia wasn’t feeling well and said she wanted to rest, so Kate didn’t linger. The former hadn’t mentioned anything about Gerard’s death, so Kate couldn’t be sure what she was thinking. As such, she had no choice but to wait.
Kate believed that once the matter took root, Cynthia wouldn’t brush it off as mere gossip. George hadn’t gone out with Gerard just so he could pick Rhea up. Wasn’t that reason enough to hate Rhea?
Kate tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear. She was about to head back to her room to rest when the door behind her opened. She instinctively turned to glance at it. Then, she blanched.
“What a surprise, Ms. Pearson.” Seamus stood inside the room, smiling at her. “It hasn’t even been a month since your mother’s death, and you’re already traveling.”
Kate’s hand trembled as she gripped the doorknob. She glared at Seamus, but he merely smiled professionally.
She slammed the door in his face, and he dropped his smile.
Rudy watched the show from behind him. “Per your instructions, I’ve booked all the empty rooms in
this hotel.”
“Good.”
In the room across the hall, Kate was taken aback. “What? All the rooms are taken?”
She wondered if the hotel was that packed. But there were barely any cars parked outside!
Having Seamus around would foil her plan.
She quickly packed her things, wanting to convince Cynthia to move to another hotel. Kate was only there for one reason–to stick by Cynthia’s side as they traveled so they could bond. Then, she would make Cynthia believe her words so she could turn the latter on Rhea.
