Seamus turned to look at Kate. “So, you admit that you slapped me?”

Kate was stunned. Hitting someone wasn’t as easy to deal with abroad as it was back in Dalea. One could be detained for the smallest things!

She had more to do. She couldn’t waste any time here. So, she quickly denied it. “I didn’t.”

Seamus smiled. “Let’s take this to court, then.”

Dealing with a lawsuit would only further delay her. By the time she dealt with it and returned to Dalea, George and Rhea might already be engaged! Plus, she still didn’t know what Cynthia was going to do. The uncertainty kept her on edge.

“Seamus.” Kate gave Seamus a pointed look.

He quickly said, “Don’t look at me like that. I’m married, and I have a kid.”

She felt like she was going to explode. At her breaking point, she actually laughed and asked, “What do you want, then?”

“You slapped me, and you’re asking me what I want? I could ask you the same thing, miss. Are you so eager for chaos? Do you want to destroy the old, the young, and people like me, who are the pillars of society?” Seamus slammed a hand against the desk, his words resounding with conviction.

Kate was speechless.

Meanwhile, the female officer texted her colleague. “I think we might need to get someone from a psych ward here.”

The way she saw it, one of these two had to be insane.

Kate finally understood what Seamus was up to. He was deliberately wasting her time and energy so that she wouldn’t be able to focus on anything else.

At that thought, she calmed down and crossed her arms. “No matter which country we’re in, that slap I gave you isn’t enough to keep me detained for long. It’ll be a few days at most. I don’t want to argue with you over who’s right and who’s wrong anymore. Do whatever you want.”

Seamus neither panicked nor felt embarrassed that his motives had been discovered. He said, “You should’ve said so earlier. I wouldn’t have had to take that slap if you had.”

He stood up and faced the officer. “I won’t accept any settlements or compensation. Just detain her for a bit as punishment. You can talk to my lawyer if there’s anything else.”

Before leaving, he waved at Kate. “Goodbye, Ms. Pearson.”

She had acted too rashly. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

He frowned, feeling displeased. However, it was aimed at himself. He had yet to find out what Kate had said to Cynthia. He considered it a failure on his end. The whole reason he was there in the first place was to stop Kate’s schemes.

The fact that Cynthia hadn’t asked about Kate despite the latter being detained by the police made it clear that she had more important things to deal with back in Dalea.

Seamus couldn’t think of anything other than Kate being up to her tricks again.

Back in Draventh, Carter had taken Arielle and Adrian out of the hospital and to an indoor mall playground to lift their spirits. He saw various news broadcasts on the mall’s big screen.

In Draventh, celebrity gossip was the least noteworthy. It was nothing compared to the drama of the elite families, which outshone any soap opera.

“It’s Mom!” Arielle pointed at the screen.

The screen showed Rhea and George attending the opening ceremony of a foundation they had set up in their personal capacities. It was dedicated to providing medical aid for children in need.

In the image, Rhea looked elegant and radiant, while George was calm and reserved. They stood beside each other, making a striking pair.

George, who was always the center of attention, had shifted his shoulder slightly so that Rhea stood just a bit ahead of him. It was as if he were her most faithful and powerful guardian, shielding her every step of the way.
