The crowd was stunned. It seemed like a lot to take in, but the story was really quite simple.

Rhea’s husband had an affair, and Kate supposedly tried to reconcile the two. That didn’t add up.

Gisselle stared at Kate, stunned and suspicious. “You…”

“Listen carefully! Kate was the one who poisoned your kids! She came to me more than once, threatened me, and plotted with me about how to hurt Rhea!” Lauren yelled, “She even told me to keep poisoning the kids so she could pin it on Rhea! She never meant to help you make up! She was just using us!”

Lauren was beside herself.

All three of the people there had lied to her. She just wanted to survive. Even if her methods were

underhanded, she would accept whatever karma came her way.

Kate had shattered her hope. There was no way Lauren would spare her.

“She called you here, didn’t she? Answer me!” Lauren bellowed.

Carter, stunned by her frenzy, nodded before he had had time to think. “Y–Yes… But the poisoning…”

It only just dawned on him. His cold gaze fixed on Kate. “You’re the one who poisoned my kids?”

“No!” Kate showed no hint of guilt. She had panicked earlier, afraid that this accusation would surface. But she also remembered what Seamus had said at the hospital. It had all been a bluff. She knew that they had no proof.

Even if Evie had publicly apologized, she had never once admitted that it was Kate behind it.

Besides, Evie was dead now. The Ravelle family could never bring it up again.

As such, Kate didn’t fear going to prison as Evie’s death had closed that chapter. So what if they knew it was Kate? There was nothing they could do.

Lauren’s gaze turned venomous. She shoved her phone into Carter’s hands. “Watch this video!”

Kate’s pupils contracted. She didn’t know what video it was, which made her uneasy.

The more she spoke, the better she felt. She shot Kate a look. “You two might as well die together!”

Carter went numb. He looked at Rhea and asked, “Is this… true?”

Suddenly, a loud slap rang out. Carter felt a sting on the back of his head. He glared at Lauren, who had just slapped him. “What are you—”

Lauren lost it. She screamed at him, “Are you fucking stupid? I told you that she had me poison the kids, and you’re still doubting me? You deserve to go bankrupt, you idiot! Heaven must be blind if you ever get back on your feet!”

Everyone in the room fell silent.
