I Quit Being a Stepmother (Cypress Gem) novel Chapter 527

Ever since Rhea's engagement, Ruby's second sister, Kendall, had been staying in Draventh.

Since Kendall was Ruby's sister, the Ravelles had arranged a place for her and her family to stay in Draventh. But she didn't say whether they planned to settle there permanently.

"This brat is never in one place! This afternoon, she told me that a friend was back from abroad, so she went to visit them, and now she's off at some other friend's house," Kendall said, fuming.

Her husband sipped his drink. "Why worry so much? With the Ravelle family providing us a place to stay, food, drinks, and maids, we might as well just enjoy life here."

"You just don't get it! I don't care about a few scraps of comfort. I want Angie to marry into Draventh's high society! Ruby knows many wealthy wives. If she introduces even one of their sons, Angie could become the wife of a wealthy man. Then we'd finally stop being jealous of Ruby!"

Kendall could never get over it. There were several sisters in the family. So why did Ruby end up with the best life?

From a merchant's daughter to a socialite's wife—it was a leap she still couldn't stomach.

Although their family wasn't poor, they were still worlds apart from the true aristocrats.

Take the Ravelle family, for example. Their children were the elite of Draventh society, while Angie was just an ordinary woman.

Why?

Angie was beautiful, too!

The more Kendall thought about it, the more worked up she got. "That brat's getting on my nerves. I'm calling her right now!"

Angie picked up the phone while sitting in Jamison Manor.

She hadn't known Mia for long, but because their situations were similar, they quickly became good friends.

Mia's family didn't have a villa, so she had brought Angie over to Carter's place.

Angie nodded. "Nice place."

And now all of that was gone.

Every time Mia thought about it, her stomach twisted with frustration. She couldn't believe that she had once sided with Lauren.

That fraud! Total scammer!

"By the way, did you go see Kate this afternoon?" Mia suddenly asked.

Angie pouted. "No, I didn't catch her. She was busy, so I didn't go."

After meeting Kate at Rhea's engagement party, Angie started keeping in touch with her privately.

Mia, with her small social circle and limited acquaintances in Draventh, didn't know all the messy details about her. She often heard Angie say that Kate was pitiful, yet kind and gentle, though she hadn't had the chance to meet her.

But since Kate was a local from Draventh, Mia thought that she had to be extraordinary. She was now eager to make more friends from Draventh.
