Some guests even went ahead and called Kate "Mrs. Burton". Kate appeared modest on the outside, but inwardly, she had already grown fond of the title.
"Just a moment. I need to take a call," Kate said.
"Of course, of course! Please, go ahead!"
Everyone was smiling at her.
Kate answered Sawyer's call in front of them. "Hello?"
"You're at home?" he asked.
"Yes, some friends came over. We're just chatting," she replied.
"Perfect. I had some tea delivered to your place. You can give it to them as a gift. I'll pick you up later to check out our new home," Sawyer said.
"Okay." Kate smiled sweetly. "Thank you."
"There's no need to thank me, darling."
Kate's ears flushed red as she hung up. "Sawyer said some tea would be sent over. You can all take some home to try."
"Mr. Burton is so thoughtful!"
"Ms. Pearson, you're truly blessed! You're the luckiest among all the heiresses of Draventh!"
"Yeah! I'd say she's living a happier life than Ms. Ravelle."
Happier than Rhea?
Kate's smile grew even wider. Surrounded by the flattering attention of these wealthy ladies, all her lingering gloom evaporated.
She needed to focus on maintaining her future rather than dwelling on the past.
To outsiders, Rhea and George's relationship always seemed partly driven by family interests. Any of Rhea's fortune would be attributed to the prestige of the Ravelle family.
Kate, however, was different.
The Pearson family didn't run a business, and misfortune had followed them repeatedly.
Yet, Sawyer still chose her. They believed that this was genuine love, untainted by wealth or interest.
