After the patrol which lasted shorter than what I’m used to back in the pack, there I would run until I pass out, no one would question me when I was just a child running with them and I’d drop in the middle of the patrol. I was a teenager back then, but even that counts as a child seeing that we live for a very long time, and the numbers just become a blur with time.

When we left, I wasn’t even tired, I wished to run for another hour or two, maybe get my body exhausted like the old days, and then I’ll sleep without thinking, I won’t be thinking of this place or what happened to get me here.

I groaned and left followed by Mateo who had a giant smile on his face, he’s living his old days back, except this time, he get to leave and sleep in his own bed and not in the tiny shoe box that they call room around here, he informed me that he’s going to leave but will be here to join me for the very early morning for the next patrol run.

“You’re just escaping the dinner,” I say and he chuckles.

“How did you know? Ezra is making us tacos,” he says licking his lips.

“Fine, fine, go ahead, I’ll go in and find out what they have cooked for us,” I say with a whine, the food isn’t the worst here, but it’s not the best either, and eating here every night is a gamble with the toilet.

raised brow, this is some stupid patrol that only last for a couple hours and ends before dinner, I stood in line and waited to get my food, and finally sat along with them to cat.

“Where have you been?” Jessie asks me with a raised brow.

“Is that jealousy? I wasn’t cheating on you,” I assure her.

“She’s not jealous, but she doesn’t like it when she loses us,” Silas defends her.

“I’m not a dog, I’m not going to stray away,” I say sounding offended.

Kyle decided to join us, he placed a hand over my shoulder and rubbed it a couple times, getting me to calm down while Jessie just sighed, I could see her working through the exercises in her head, stopping and thinking, before she tries to bite our heads off.

“It’s just I was worried about you Noelle, it’s not like you to disappear unless you’re in trouble,” she says and then sigh, she did it, she didn’t yell at me or get too angry.

“I’m sorry I got you worried, Jessie, I’m not in trouble and I won’t leave without saying goodbye,” I assure her, which made her smile, she started to eat her food as did the rest of us, I was exhausted but happy that the day was over and I’ll get to go sleep now.

I said goodbye to everyone and went to my room to wait until the showers are empty, everyone either showers in the morning or at night, so I had to wait for odd hour to use the showers. I sat near the window and groaned, I wished I was still out there running, howling, letting my wolf free, but I’m stuck inside this cage for now.

the soap they provide didn’t have any scent in it, there was no joy in lathering it and getting the scent to be on your body. I finished in a couple minutes, and then wrapped my body in the hard towel, brushing my wet hair, and then braiding it, to keep it out of my way, and finally I ran back to my room to get dressed.
