Chapter 3789: Existential Anomaly I
Noah stood still.
At first glance, she was nothing. A pale-skinned girl in a tattered white robe, hair splayed like threads of moonlight, lips parted with the rhythm of sleep. Her presence was unmarked by authority, untouched by mana, devoid of any tangible pressure.
But it was a lie.
A beautiful one.
His eyes narrowed, cold and clinical.
No fluctuations.
No resonance.
No fields of power humming beneath her flesh.
And yet…
The runes.
They were everywhere. Carved across her limbs, her chest, her neck, spiraling upward gloriously.
At first glance? They were meaningless. Decorative.
But Noah focused.
And the deeper he stared, the more the silence in his mind began to ring.
His thoughts buzzed with pressure, not from her, but from the Runes as he felt a resonance he could not quite explain.
Because runes weren’t just patterns.
They were a language. And these seemed to be saying something!
But…
He needed time. Focus. But even now, he felt a whisper of the truth, one that made him cautious.
All around, the Fold Dwellers of the Veiled Sunfolds stood as stone. Grim. Silent. Watching the young woman not with curiosity, but with caution and dread.
Even Master Shen’s ever-present levity dulled as he stared at her.
“This is the thing of prophecy?” Noah asked, voice low and calm. “And it’s shackled with chains that not even a Primarch could break?”
His eyes swept over the chains- each a woven bridge of glowing Lattices, hundreds of thousands embedded in every link. Dozens wrapped the clear containment like a cocoon of magisterial consequence.
“A seemingly… normal human,” he murmured.
Master Shen chuckled softly, though the sound lacked humor.
“She came crashing through the folds,” he said, lifting his gourd without sipping. “No power. No mana. No flare. We tried to approach. Probe. Hah…”
He smiled, sharp and bitter. “You’ll see for yourself soon.”
Kalysta’s brows furrowed.
Master Etheopa’s voice rang out, slicing clean through the tension like a blade of certainty.
“All Sunfold Dwellers, fall back. Eyes down.”
She spoke grandly as the other Masters here glorious floated towards Master Shen, with the Primarchs and those below them turning and floating away from this area!
Without argument, they obeyed.
The Solstice Veils retreated.
Primarchs turned their gazes away.
Even Shen floated a few paces back.
Only Etheopa remained standing firm beside Noah.
She looked at him then and spoke.
“O Unbound Living Paradox,” she intoned, “be the first one she gazes at. Let her eyes open to yours. That is what the Prophecy states must happen. Do this… and the Sunfolds will negotiate on whatever you ask.”
“Many lives are at stake.”
…!
Noah met her gaze for a long moment.
Then, a slow smile curved his lips, calm and crooked.
“We’ll definitely talk terms after.”
WAA!
Without waiting, he moved.
Through the open path of woven chains, toward the heart of the anomaly.
Step by step, he approached the bubble of clear light, and the girl who was not a girl.
And as he moved…
|The Living True Source of Loot is expectant of the wonders to unfold from this.|
…!
Noah’s smile sharpened as he floated to a halt just before her.
The runes on her body glowed faintly.
The moment he neared the crystalline bubble, he sensed things more profoundly.
It was beautiful- an almost translucent barrier, smooth as still water and shaped like a tear caught mid-fall. And yet… it was no fragile thing.
The crystalline shell flared with light as her gaze snapped upward- and locked on his.
A moment of stillness.
Then confusion.
Caution.
She blinked once. Then again. Her lips parted, but no sound came.
Slowly, almost clumsily, she scooted back- arms flailing slightly in the low gravity of this space.
And then…
She spun.
Not gracefully. Not like a wonder reborn.
She flailed.
Her limbs thrashed as she drifted sideways, eyes wide in clear panic.
She tried to scream, but of course, there was no sound.
She was just a young woman.
A normal, terrified woman in the vacuum of space.
How pitiful.
How curious.
Noah tilted his head slightly, eyes following her slow rotation. His expression didn’t change- but inside, a devilish smile bloomed
So this was the anomaly?
A being prophesied to bring doom or glory?
And yet she flailed like a child dropped into the void?
He watched her without blinking.
Not with sympathy.
Not with cruelty.
With interest.
Pure, analytical interest.
A normal human. Yet wrapped in the runes of unfathomable wonders.
His smile curved faintly as from another perspective, he might have even looked wicked and serene!
