Chapter 4036: Discipline! II
Seed of Inevitability Planted. Unusual Growth Requirements Detected
Primary Requirement: The Willing Sacrifice of Everythings. Minimum to Begin Growth: 10 Everythings. For Full Maturation: 75 Everythings total (any type)
The Seed will choose what grows based on what it is fed
Current Everythings Fed: 0/75. Time to Maturation: Variable based on feeding rate and other factors.
Noah’s eyes blazed with understanding and purpose. The Seed required the willing sacrifice of Everythings…the same process he had undergone with Khor’s children.
But he wouldn’t experiment carelessly with his people. He knew what losing Fear did. The results were predictable, manageable, beneficial.
Other Everythings might bring glory or catastrophe, and he wouldn’t risk his people to find out.
“Henry!” His voice carried across the Shore with authority that demanded immediate response.
His only son appeared moments later, looking like a man in his early twenties despite his true age being far more complex and far lesser. His blue-gold hair caught the light of the Shore as he approached with respectful efficiency.
“Yes, Father?”
Noah looked at the plot where the Seed of Inevitability had been planted, its obsidian presence making the soil around it shimmer with possibility.
“There is a Seed,” he explained, his voice carrying the weight of instruction and warning combined, “that is capable of accepting and eating part of yourself. Part of your Everything. If you seek even grander strength… give it part of your Everything.”
He paused, ensuring his son understood the gravity of what was being asked.
“Give the Everything of your Fear.”
Henry’s expression shifted through surprise to understanding to resolution. His father had never asked anything of him that wasn’t ultimately for his benefit. If giving away his fear would grant him strength, then fear was a price worth paying.
He held absolute trust!
“I give my Everything of Fear!” Henry declared with conviction that rang across the Shore.
The response was immediate and terrifying.
A horrifying mass of illusory black shadow erupted from the seed…not physically but conceptually, existing in the space between real and unreal.
Jaws that weren’t jaws but were definitely jaws clamped down on Henry, passing through his body while taking something fundamental.
When the shadow retreated back to the seed, Henry’s body exploded with advancement!
The Seed of Inevitability has consumed an Everything of Fear
Everythings Fed: 1/75
Hunger Status: Ravenous
The Seed demands more
Noah watched his son’s complexity and purity surge, each cell drinking in power that would have taken years to accumulate naturally. He placed a powerful hand on Henry’s shoulder, steadying him through the transformation.
“Well done,” he said, then raised his voice to carry across the Shore. “Liora! Lilith! Kazuhiko! Erikson! Blue Slime! Jormungandr!”
He called out!
And one by one, they came. Each of his people, his companions, his family in all but blood responded to his call. They gathered around the plot where the Seed of Inevitability waited with patient hunger.
Noah stood tall before them, his presence commanding without fear to make him terrible or doubt to make him question whether this was right.
Noah watched his people transform, each one’s complexity and purity surging as fear’s absence created space for power to flow.
They stood straighter, moved with more certainty, looked at existence with eyes that no longer held terror’s shadow.
“You’ve all taken the first step toward true transcendence,” he told them, “Fear no longer chains you. Now, let’s see what you become without its weight.”
As he said this, Noah looked out to the Shore towards the dozens others.
He still needed more to give their Everythings as he would go slowly!
And the Seed of Inevitability, drinking deeply of the Everythings freely given, began to grow into something that had never existed before…a paradox born of intention rather than accident, shaped by will rather than chaos.
What would emerge when it finally matured?
Even Noah, fearless and doubtless as he was, couldn’t know for certain.
But that wasn’t doubt…it was anticipation!
A line of beings formed across the Early Veiled Shore, each one ready to surrender their Everything of Fear to the Seed of Inevitability.
The procession was both solemn and celebratory…a parade of transformation where limitation was exchanged for possibility!
As this glorious phenomenon unfolded, the massive figure of Yoshinami remained near Noah, her eight legs planted firmly in the golden sand. While watching being after being give away their fear, she turned her crimson eyes toward her Master.
“Master,” she said, her voice carrying the weight of ancient memory, “you show something that the Early Creature…the Architect of Sanctuaries who protected countless Land Lifeforms, Living Existences, and even Fold Dwellers, once said to us.”
…!
