Noahโs reaction was a solemn, heavy silence.
The numbers were terrifying, but it was the other details that truly resonated.
A Fractured Existence, holding this much power with only a fraction of his being!
The ability to observe entire Folds. And the Everythings... a being literally filled to the brim with the concentrated negative emotions of another.
Khor floated beside him, her brow furrowed in a rare expression of genuine surprise. "This... is unexpected."
The moment her voice echoed out, Malphas turned and bowed toward her. "I have only heard glimpses of your grace and power, but it is an honor to see The First Hunger, and to even be bound to the same Master."
After these words, Noahโs mind, still processing the terrifying status sheet, focused on the most critical question. "Who was your previous Master?"
Malphas remained calm, his crimson eyes holding a deep, ancient sadness. "My previous Master, from the little that I can remember, felt an overwhelming sense of emotions. They gave me their Everythings of Hatred, Rage, Fear, Insecurity... alongside the Everything of Loyalty. They were unique, in that their Everythings regenerated, especially their negative emotions. I received these Everythings again and again."
Malphas gave a light bow and closed his eyes.
"My previous Master was THE Living Emotive, Master."
BOOM!
The name was a thunderclap in the quiet of the Shore. Even Khor was surprised!
The servant of one of the most mysterious and dangerous of THE Living Existences, a being whose actions had seeded existence with perpetual suffering, was now bound to him.
Malphas continued, his voice unwavering. "But our relationship ended when my Existence was collapsed. I do not know how I am standing before you today but... I only stand before you as your humble servant. All I wish... is to not be discarded as I was before. To not be collapsed. And I will do everything in my power to serve."
...!
His eyes flashed with a regal, crimson brilliance as he bowed again toward Noah.
This was a terrifying being, a tool of unimaginable potential. Even in his fractured state, his power was on the level of the weakest Early Creatures! What had he been at his peak?
Noah looked at this entity, this noble butler who was a vessel of ancient pain and absolute loyalty, and he replied.
"From this day on, you are my servant, and the servant of the Early Veiled Shore."
A devilish, handsome smile bloomed on Malphasโs face!
It was an expression of pure, unadulterated joy. His crimson eyes flashed with a terrifying intellect!
"What can you tell us about THE Living Emotive?" he asked, his voice a calm, steady current in the sea of ambient power.
Malphas performed a somber bow, a gesture of profound respect for both his new Master and the memory of his old one.
"I do not remember too much, My Lord" he began, his cultured baritone laced with an ancient, lingering sorrow.
"My existence is... fragmented. But some things, some feelings, are too powerful to be erased completely."
He straightened, his crimson eyes looking past Noah, into a time and place that no longer was. "THE Living Emotive was an existence that, true to their name, felt every emotion tremendously. More than any being could ever realize. For them, joy was not a feeling, but a state of being that could illuminate entire Folds. Sorrow was not an emotion, but a weight that could make spacetime itself weep."
The others gathered on the Shore...Sigrid, Moiraine, Ruination, and the Infiniverse, drew closer, their own immense powers held in check as they listened.
"But this sensitivity was a double-edged blade," Malphas continued, his voice heavy. "When the other Living Existences, in their arrogance or ignorance, put them down... their negative emotions amplified. I remember a time when THE Living Dimensional mocked them, saying emotions were just the โfoam on the ocean, not the ocean itself.โ THE Living Emotive simply smiled and walked away, but I felt it. The Everything of their Shame and Rage began to swell, to boil. If it were unleashed, it would not have been a storm; it would have been an apocalypse of feeling, a wave of pure despair that could have drowned quintillions of consciousnesses."
He paused, letting the weight of that sink in.
"To prevent this, to protect existence from the sheer, overwhelming force of their own heart, THE Living Emotive took on Servants. We became vessels. They would give us their Everythings of negative emotions, pouring their Hatred, their Fear, their Sorrow, their Cruelty into us, until they could find their balance again."
