History.

Many argued endlessly about what history actually was, debating definitions and methodologies with the passion of scholars who had devoted lifetimes to the subject.

But what was history actually, when one stripped away all pretense?

Were they not simply stories that were passed down from those who had lived longer than others? Tales told by survivors, by victors, by those with the power to ensure their version endured?

So could history always be accurate if those who had lived longer simply passed down stories of their own fabrications, shaped by bias and self-interest? Was any history actually true history, based on the accounts of many, or preserved in written texts and records that themselves could be altered and fabricated at will?

Unless one was able to go back in time to see how things actually unfolded with their own eyes, could they truly say they knew and understood the true history? Or were they simply being fed lies dressed up as truth, generation after generation?

There were countless Stories of The Earliest Folds that spoke of THE Living Existences and THE Creature. Of Early Creatures, Inevitabilities, and Fold Dwellers who shaped reality through their conflicts and achievements.

But was that all there was to history, these grand narratives of powers and conflicts?

Because the most pivotal thing that many needed to understand and grasp was that history was written by the victors. History was always, inevitably, written by those who survived and triumphed.

And they could weave whatever story they wished, painting themselves as heroes or saviors, casting their enemies as monsters or tyrants, regardless of what actually occurred.

Truth became whatever the powerful decided it should be.

Truth could be written.

History could be written!
