Infinite Mana In The Apocalypse novel Chapter 4592

Chapter 4592: Logos III

Noah barely spared a glance for the imprisoned entity as his attention remained fixed on the multiple vibrant Logos surrounding the cage with fascinated wonder.

After several moments of studying the inscriptions, he looked toward Ul’moreth and asked with a voice carrying intense interest.

Can you teach me about inscribing and writing Logos externally like this? The permanent inscription of The First Tongue onto objects and structures?

Ul’moreth’s hairy form seemed to pulse with approval at the question before he launched into another explanation.

The Inscription of The First Tongue is a heavy and terrifically difficult art, Little Anomaly. It requires far more than simply knowing and understanding Phonemes or even being able to speak complete Logos aloud. You must learn to write them in such a way that they continue expressing their effects perpetually without your direct involvement or conscious maintenance.

When you speak a Phoneme or Logos, the effect manifests and then fades once you stop channeling it. But when you inscribe The First Tongue onto weapons, buildings, constructs, armor, even living beings if you are skilled and careful enough, the linguistic pattern becomes permanent. The object itself becomes a speaker of The First Tongue, continuously uttering the inscribed word and producing its effect as long as the inscription remains intact.

His voice carried the weight of extensive experience with this technique.

The mechanics of Inscription are complex and variable. Different practitioners achieve different results even when inscribing the same Logos because you must write through your own Way of Existence while simultaneously allowing The First Tongue to flow through you. Your personal understanding, your cultivation foundation, your connection to Mana, all of these factors influence how effectively the inscription manifests and how powerfully it operates.

Someone with shallow understanding might inscribe a Logos of Fire onto a sword and achieve only modest enhancement of the blade’s cutting temperature. Someone with deeper comprehension inscribing the exact same Logos would create a weapon that burns with flames drawing upon Singularity Principles of combustion. The words are identical, but the depth of understanding behind them determines their potency.

Ul’moreth gestured toward Noah with what felt like measuring assessment.

If you continue to be insane enough in your rate of advancement, Little Anomaly, you would potentially become capable of inscribing Logos onto your weapons and armor, decorating yourself from top to bottom with linguistic patterns of The First Tongue. You could then face a THE Surface Depth of Absolute Sovereignty entity with just multiple Logos supporting you, which would likely mean the constant support of Singularity and even Genesis Principles without you personally utilizing any of your own authority at all.

Imagine entering combat where your armor continuously speaks defensive Logos that make you nearly indestructible. Where your weapon perpetually utters offensive Logos that allow it to cut through any defense. Where inscriptions on your armament itself enhance your speed, strength, perception, regeneration, all drawing power directly from fundamental Principles of Existence rather than from your personal reserves. You would be fighting not with your own power but with the accumulated authority of reality itself backing every action.

...!

Noah had to pace himself at the thought of it alone!

Becuase...sheesh!

What were Complexity and Purity before such things?

Existence was truly filled with unfathomable weavings of wonder!

But...

The tone of Ul’moreth became more cautionary.

However, the art of Inscription of The First Tongue is extraordinarily difficult and requires years of dedicated practice and study to achieve even basic competency. The precision required is far beyond what verbal utterance demands. When speaking, small errors in pronunciation might reduce the effect or cause minor backlash. When inscribing, small errors create permanent flaws that can cause catastrophic failure, destroying the object you were trying to enhance or even causing linguistic explosions that could collapse your own Existence.

You must learn not just how to form each component of each Phoneme perfectly in written form, but how to connect them into complete Logos with flawless grammatical structure, and how to inscribe them onto different materials that each respond differently to linguistic patterns. Metal accepts Fire Phonemes readily but resists Water. Wood welcomes Life but rejects Death. Every material has its own affinities and resistances that must be understood and worked with.

Noah listened to all of this explanation with growing marvel while looking at the sophisticated Logos inscribed on the cage before him.

If he could learn to inscribe Logos seamlessly onto weapons or armor or even entire constructs like The Infiniverse...

’Oh?’

The thought alone stopped him as from The Infiniverse, he thought of THE Loom.

Was that fucking thing...filled with Inscriptions of The First Tongue to be as impenetrable as it was and still powered and energized all these years?

It was only a thought that came to his mind as it may not be accurate at all, but he couldn’t shake the thought!

"..."

The possibilities felt genuinely immense and potentially reality-breaking in their implications.

Just to confirm his understanding and potential limitations, he asked with careful emphasis on a specific detail.

One can inscribe Logos onto themselves, yes? Directly onto their own Existence rather than onto external objects?

Ul’moreth was quiet for a long moment before responding with unusually contemplative tone.

Well, yes. You can attempt it if you want to potentially collapse your own Existence catastrophically. Objects or other things in nature are relatively easy to inscribe and have them maintain their structural qualities. But Existences, living conscious beings, you would be forcing the letters and words of The First Tongue onto entities that are fundamentally not aligned with The First Tongue in its pure undifferentiated form.

All of us countless beings who have differentiated and specialized away from pure Mana into particular Ways and Paths. Our Existences resist The First Tongue to varying degrees because we have committed ourselves to specific expressions rather than remaining open to all possibilities. Trying to inscribe Logos directly onto such an Existence is like trying to write on water, the medium constantly shifts and rejects the pattern you are attempting to impose.

It is technically feasible to inscribe a Logos onto yourself so long as it closely matches your Way. A Way related to Fire would have a much easire time inscribing the Phoneme of Fire and its variations onto themselves, but they may collapse themselves if they inscribe Water while their Way is that of Fire.

But it is feasible to do all this and have the Logos act like an engine continuously enhancing your capabilities. But the effect is limited by what your Existence can withstand based on how much of a natural connection you maintain to The First Tongue in its purest form. Most entities can perhaps sustain one or two simple Logos inscribed on themselves before their Existence begins rejecting the patterns and risking collapse from the incompatibility.

Oh, hmm, actually when it comes to you specifically, this limitation may function entirely differently. That is right, you are an anomaly of The First Tongue itself. Your Way is pure Mana, which is The First Tongue in its undifferentiated state. Your Existence has not specialized away from the source language but rather embraced it as your fundamental nature.

BOOM!

But there was still tremendously much work to be done before such techniques became feasible. He had not even successfully formed and spoken a single Logos yet, much less begun learning the intricate art of permanent Inscription.

As he and Ul’moreth had their discussion of advanced linguistic techniques, THE Maelstrom Thundermane inside his cage could only observe them with growing sense of profound unease.
