The unique sensation of THE Formless Depth across his body continued to be an extremely odd one as Noah descended alone toward the citadel of vibrant pillars surrounded by the forces of THE Living Spirit.
The best way he could explain THE Formless Depth was an extremely cooling vibrant sensation of power. It flowed through him like liquid starlight, touching every aspect of his existence with its impossible quality. The Phonemes of The First Tongue and Logos and Philologies inside of him reinforced his foundation even faster than before, each one humming with increased efficiency as if THE Formless Depth gave them permission to operate beyond their normal limits. His Organ of Civilization and Heart pumped even denser and grander, the blue-gold Mana coursing through channels that seemed to widen and deepen with every passing moment.
And his mental state...
THE Formless Depth seemed to amplify a sense of calmness and arrogance that seemed unmatched.
It wasn’t the arrogance of delusion or the calmness of ignorance. It was something deeper, something that emerged from the fundamental truth of what he had become. As if his Depth was telling his existence that regardless of what would be thrown at him in the future, he had to domineeringly and calmly get through it.
After all, he had THE Formless Depth!
It was why he freely floated ahead at this moment even though a Half-Step Absolute Depth THE Living Spirit was looking at him from the citadel below. Multiple Fundamental Depth entities surrounded that being like generals attending their emperor. Tens of Intermediate Depth spirits formed ranks behind them, their combined weight enough to crush lesser civilizations into dust.
And his Weight and immensity, in their eyes, may only be categorized as Intermediate, if they could feel it at all.
Yet he still felt calmness and freedom from worry in all this.
THE Formless Depth was ecstatic and dangerous, and he had to be careful with it. Likely, even if he came across THE Creature right now, he felt like he would only gaze upon him calmly and even think he could take him on.
Eventually, yes.
But right now, the results would truly be very different.
THE Creature had accumulated weight and immensity across timescales that made Noah’s existence look like a candle flame compared to a star. THE Living Paradox had consumed THE Primordial Paradox and claimed authority over the concept of contradiction itself. THE Primordial Chaos had been spreading entropy since before differentiation separated the realms.
Noah was powerful, but he wasn’t delusional.
Not yet, anyway.
But this was the potential his Depth held! The grandness and immensity to even look upon THE Creature, THE Primordial Chaos, and THE Living Paradox and say... so what?!
That potential would be realized in time.
For now, he had lesser enemies to educate.
As he approached the citadel, he felt one of THE Fundamental Depth spirits near THE Living Spirit speak a few words to their leader. The massive presence that was THE Living Spirit seemed to consider for a moment, then nodded with glacial deliberation. And this terrifying thing, this Fundamental Depth entity, began to float up toward him.
The spirit that rose to meet Noah was a nightmare given form and purpose.
Its body was a twisted amalgamation of concepts that should never have been combined. The core of its being resembled an Udug demon of ancient terror, a massive humanoid form that stood three times Noah’s height with skin that seemed carved from solidified shadows. Its face was a mask of cruel angles and sharp ridges, with seven eyes arranged in a pattern that suggested malevolent intelligence and twelve horns that curved backward from its skull like a crown of darkness.
But this was no mere demon.
This was a spirit that had achieved THE Fundamental Depth of Absolute Sovereignty.
Its form flickered between states of being, solid one moment and ethereal the next, as if it couldn’t decide whether it wanted to be matter or energy or something else entirely. Chains of gray light wrapped around its arms and torso, not as restraints but as weapons, each link containing the compressed essence of subjugated Ways. Its hands ended in claws that seemed to cut through space itself, leaving trails of darkness in their wake.
And the weight that radiated from it...
That weight pressed down upon Noah like the judgment of ancient fiends!
The spirit stopped a hundred meters from him, its seven eyes all focusing on his form with expressions that ranged from contempt to curiosity to hunger.
"Are you supposed to be the reinforcement of these flaming giants?"
Its voice was like grinding stone mixed with screaming wind, carrying waves that made the air itself recoil.
"Do you even know who you stand against? If you did, you would at least not hide your Depth."
The spirit tilted its head, those seven eyes narrowing.
"You aren’t cowering and shitting yourself before my weight, so you should be Fundamental? Let me show you the difference in our Depths so that an ant like you knows just who you face."
