Invisible to My First Love (Harper and Maddox) novel Chapter 114

Chapter 114

Grayson

Two weeks ago, Harper set some boundaries between us while I was with her on the dance floor. I’d let it get to me for a few hours but reminded myself that this was Harper, the same girl who had always loved me.

She might’ve been in a relationship with Maddox. But how could she forget me so easily? She definitely didn’t. I’d felt her tremble in my arms with the way I’d touched her. I only needed to push the right buttons to have her act the way I wanted..

I couldn’t stand the sight of her and my fucking brother–in–law as a couple. Sure, I’d heard them fucking before, but that was during a time when it meant nothing to either of them. Everything was now different as he had definitely fallen for her. Before, he used to look at her like he couldn’t wait to fuck her but now, he looked at her like she was the most precious thing in the world. And that, right there, got on my nerves so much that I needed to do something about it. What better way to deal with the situation than to be around Harper more?

Maddox had been gone for two weeks and had left the morning after the ball. It came as a surprise as he’d decided to work on a six month project he previously had no interest in.

He was still halfway across the world and his location barely had any connectivity. That could’ve explained why he’d stopped posting Harper on his page. But it didn’t make sense that she’d also stopped posting him on hers. The last time the two of them had been posted on each other’s pages was on the night of the ball.

Without anyone knowing when he would return, it felt like the universe was on my side.

I had thought of the possibility that the two of them had stayed in touch whenever he had some connectivity, but so what? He still wasn’t physically around. And at no point had she flown halfway across the world to be with him. I knew this because I’d been watching her everyday and she had no idea.

Ever since that night on the dance floor, I hadn’t called, texted, or even showed my face. I wanted to wait long enough before making a move and looking at how much time had passed, I was certain that it wasn’t going to take much for her to cling to me like she used to, just how I liked it.

I only had one more meeting before heading over to her place, so I came home first to pick up an important document.

When I pushed the bedroom door open, Tiffany was on the bed while scrolling on her phone.

“Babe, you’re back,” she said.

She didn’t even get up to kiss or hug me and I just thought her mood swings were to blame.

“Yeah, I need the documents from February,” I said, putting the briefcase on the edge of the bed and opening it. “What’s with that face? Someone pissed you off?”

She groaned. “I don’t get why people are still talking about Harper’s diamond necklace. It’s been two fucking

weeks!”

I raised my eyebrows while flipping through the documents. “It’s worth a billion dollars now, thanks to your

brother.”

“Ugh! The amount of articles praising him like he solved world hunger or something.” She rolled her eyes.

I had seen such articles, praising Maddox online and I could only imagine what the headline was this time. I was so curious to check it out that I began to approach the other side of the bed so I could see it from her phone.

“What does it say?” I asked.

Right before I could get close enough, she quickly placed her phone down on the pillow and it was flipped over so the screen wouldn’t be exposed.

“Just forget about it.” She sighed dismissively, then got up from the bed, holding my hand and leading me towards the large mirror. “I need a massage. I can definitely go to the spa, but I want to feel your touch.”

Her silk robe slipped down to her arms, exposing her sexy shoulders as she waited for me.

“You do it so well. I know you’re in a hurry, but just a few minutes, please?” Her tone was flirtatious.
