**Chapter 125**

“I just haven’t heard from him in a while,” I admitted, my voice tinged with a mix of confusion and concern. “He always talked about coming back to San Francisco, but he never actually did. That’s why it’s such a shock to hear from him like this out of the blue.”
I had hoped my words would shatter the tension that had suddenly enveloped us, but instead, I watched as Maddox stepped closer, his presence almost overwhelming. The intensity in his gaze sent a shiver down my spine, and I instinctively took a step back, my heart racing with both fear and excitement.
He remained silent, not uttering a single word as I retreated. The air between us thickened, and I felt the wall press against my back, leaving me with no escape. It was in that moment of vulnerability that he leaned in, his hand hovering just above my shoulder, effectively trapping me against the wall. His other hand found its way to my thigh, gripping it possessively.
“Let me make myself perfectly clear,” he said, his voice low and commanding, his eyes narrowing as if he were peering into the very depths of my soul. “I’m not interested in any competition with other guys.”
I struggled to regain my composure, the thrill of his words igniting something deep within me. With a teasing smile, I replied, “You have no competition.”
“It better stay that way,” he murmured, burying his face in the crook of my neck, his warm breath sending delightful shivers through me as he nibbled softly. “Because I plan to crush anyone who dares to stand in my way.”
A gasp escaped my lips as I felt the tantalizing flick of his tongue, his hand sliding between my legs, moving upwards with a deliberate slowness that made my heart race.
“Just to be sure, I have no competition?” he whispered, his finger now dangerously close to my bare bikini area.
“No,” I managed to breathe out, closing my eyes as I braced myself for what was to come.
“Good girl.” His finger slid down to my most intimate spot, and he gently inserted it, eliciting a gasp of pleasure that escaped my lips.
But just as quickly, he withdrew his hand and stepped back, leaving me breathless and yearning.
“Breakfast should be ready soon,” he said casually, glancing at his finger that had just been inside me before licking it clean with an almost nonchalant air.
I pressed my thighs together, a wave of heat washing over me as I watched him, the sight of his tongue gliding over his finger igniting a fire within me.
“You better call him back,” he said, striding away to grab his shirt, a smirk playing on his lips.
I placed a hand on my chest, trying to steady my erratic heartbeat, even as I felt the telltale dampness between my legs.
“I’ll call him back later,” I replied, my voice wavering slightly.
It was clear he didn’t want any competition, and I had no intention of changing that.
Breakfast awaited us on the balcony, and as I joined Maddox at the table, I found him already there, casually picking at a plate of grapes with his shirt deliberately open. The morning sun cast a perfect glow on his sculpted muscles, providing me with a feast for the eyes that was just as enticing as the food before us.
“Good. You’re here,” he said, his gaze appraising as if he were cataloging every detail. “I was starting to wonder when you’d join me. Now that I see your hair, I can understand why. Did you feel like doing something a little different?”
It took me a moment to process his words, my mind racing with curiosity. How had he noticed the subtle change? My hairstyle was still reminiscent of last night, just a slight alteration in the curls.
