Invisible to My First Love (Harper and Maddox) novel Chapter 64

Chapter 64

Maddox

I came to a high–end luxury store after receiving a notification that my shirt was ready. The designer himself handed me the bag with my long sleeved white shirt inside it. Not only did it cost more than any other shirt I’d ever bought in my entire life, it was also a custom fit, tailored down to the last stitch. I could have had it delivered, but no, I wanted to be there and see the final product with my own eyes and it was worth it.

Holding onto the straps of the bag, I began to make my way to the exit of the store when a feminine voice came from behind me.

“Maddox?”

I turned quickly because the voice sounded unfamiliar, but as soon as I scanned her face, it took me less than a second to figure out who she was. We’d fucked before, back when I was in the mood for anything that walked in heels and moaned my name the right way. Even with all that, I couldn’t even remember her name.

She strutted towards me in her tailored suit, her hips swaying along with her short skirt.

“Who knew I’d be starting off this morning like this? It’s been over a year now.” She flashed me a smile of invitation, tilting her head. “I tried to contact you a few times, but there was no call or text from you. After that night we spent together, I thought…”

She trailed off like she wanted me to fill in the blanks.

I gave her the kind of smile people mistake for warmth, but the reality was that I was already halfway out of the conversation.

“Yup. Anyway, good to see you again. I have to go,” I said.

As soon as I turned around to continue making my way to the exit, she stopped me by grabbing my arm.

“Wait,” she said, coming to the front and leaning in like it was supposed to hypnotize me. “Maybe we should… see each other again?”

I looked down at her hand on me, then back up at her face as she fluttered her eyelashes at me.

“If you mean like this, then yeah. You’ve seen me,” I said, pulling away from her grip.

Her lips parted like she was at a loss for words. I didn’t even stick around to figure out what she wanted to say.

I stepped to the side, hoping this was finally going to be the time I made it out of the door.

Just as I was approaching it, she spoke from behind me in a flirtatious tone. “Call me!”

Lazily, I waved my hand without turning around, letting her think whatever she wanted.

I got into my car while still thinking about what led to the night I had spent with that girl but quickly, I shut it out. I had more important things to think about. I had talked myself out of telling Grayson about Harper so many times since the previous day but found myself unable to let things be as they were

It was for this reason that I finally dialed his number, putting the phone on speaker while my eyes were on the road even though I hadn’t yet started the engine.

“Hello?” His voice was flat, like he was talking to a stranger.

I wasn’t even about to dwell on that. I had one thing to do and no matter what, I was going to make sure I did it.

“Are you with Tiffany?”

“She’s with her mom. Why?”

“There’s something you need to know about Harper.”
