Wang Wei glanced at the man called Bohui. His detection indicated he was the source of the connection, but there was still no karma thread. ’Is the thread hidden by the destiny of the Fiendgod Race?’ Wang Wei thought. While that conclusion was a logical explanation, he still felt something was not adding up. Firstly, why was Wang Wei connected to the Fiendgod Race in the first place? Was it because of his bloodline? Maybe it’s because he would meet them in the future and play a significant role in their development?
"Fellow Daoist, is there something wrong? You’ve been staring?" Bohui asked as his body tensed up. The man’s eyes felt invasive, and even after using numerous techniques to hide his information, he felt vulnerable and exposed.
Wang Wei was about to say something when his [Existence Blueprint Technique] noticed something. "Hmm? You’re..." He realized this Fiendgod was a clone of some sort. Maybe clone was not the best description, as his situation was more complex. Regardless, the one before him was not the original. Unfortunately, his clone could not exercise the full power of the technique, so he couldn’t analyze the truth behind what he saw.
’Damn it, did he see something?’ Bohui thought. He couldn’t believe his luck would run out here of all places. He has already fooled the Fiendgod Race Elders and did his best to stay away from their Saints. But out of nowhere, he met someone who could see through his secret; has his luck run out? Was he about to be exposed?
"Where are you guys heading?" Wang Wei asked. He noticed Bohui’s tension, but he did not care. Their fate was connected, meaning they would face each other again.
"We’re heading to White Nail World," Nine Heaven said. "Fellow Daoist, do you know of it?"
"Not the Eternal Ascension World?"
These two expressions remained the same, and Bohui even showed a puzzling expression. "Isn’t that world closed off? Why would we go there?"
"Because it’s the only place that could potentially force the traditionalists and progressives of the Fiendgod Race to unite without a race-annihilating event," Wang Wei explained.
"Fellow Daoist, I think you must have misunderstood something. We are friends," Bohui said, and his cheeks turned red as he said these words. "However, our factions are...still not on the best of terms. You saw how we were attacked."
Wang Wei paused. "I can’t tell whether you’re lying because there is a love karma thread between you two." Bohui’s face turned even redder. "Well, now, I can. She’s not as good an actor as you, so she couldn’t hide her surprise fast enough and continue this play."
The atmosphere immediately became tense and uncomfortable. Wang Wei smirked. "Well, we’ve reached the limit of your tolerance, meaning you’re about to try to silence me. I don’t want to waste time with such a trifle." He waved his hand to summon his boat. "Since there is some kind of destiny between us, I’m sure we will meet again."
Bohui watched him alive, his fist still clenched. ’This is a wake-up call. I haven’t adapted to all the Saints and monsters of this upcoming age.’ His cloning ability has always remained undetectable, but that is no longer the truth with the presence of more Saints. ’I can’t hesitate anymore. Since he is my only way to better hide myself, I must return.’
"Are you alright?" Nine Heaven asked.
"Huh? Oh, yes."
However, she looked at him strangely. Bohui’s behavior toward the person was odd, not just because he was facing a terrifying enemy who could read them like the back of their hand. "We all have our own secrets, don’t we?
Bohui explained.
Wang Wei suddenly frowned. ’Why does this setup feel like the Three Realms in Earth’s mythology and story?’ The concept of a Human World, an Underworld or Ghost World for souls, and an Immortal World for powerful entities is a staple of Chinese mythology and Xianxia stories.
’Did Grand Dao establish this system after acquiring information from the Prehistoric World?’ Wang Wei analyzed. Primordial Chaos, the Underworld, and even living worlds existed way before Pangu opened the Prehistoric World. However, their system and operation came afterward. Hongjun said the Underworld was an early version of the Six Paths of Samara, and that the concept of samsara, or reincarnation, is a Hindu and Buddhist idea that has been adapted or fused into Taoism.
’The theory has some validity,’ Wang Wei analyzed. ’However, I’m now questioning whether Grand Dao has some plans for Primordial Chaos. Maybe, create a world for all the Saints — a world that can bear their wanton destruction.’
The concept of a Saint World sounds like an excellent idea. Separating Mortals and Immortals from Saints will drastically reduce needless casualties and destruction; such a system was perfect for Grand Dao’s balance and government. However, it will come at the cost of the Saints’ freedom since they will probably be restricted from entering Chaos Worlds.
’Not to mention that the vastness of Primordial Chaos has allowed these Saints to have their own sphere of influence and limit confrontation. But if Grand Dao creates a Saint World, she will force them into a limited space. And if there are resources — which is likely since it needs an incentive for these Saints to live there — competition will become intense. In other words, a Saint World will be another form of the Heaven Will Battle.’
Wang Wei was speechless. He did not understand why Grand Dao loved the Raising Gu method of training so much. ’The Primordial Timeline’s Saints do not have a good relationship with Grand Dao — especially pertaining to strict rules and limits. So, will they accept this other form of imprisonment? I know I won’t.’
The Saint Path was approaching, so while Wang Wei was all for creating measures to ensure the safety of Mortals and Immortals, he would not accept it if it was at the expense of his freedom. ’It’s looking more and more like the Transcendent Age will not be kind to Saints,’ Wang Wei frowned.
Something is brewing under the current calmness of the Chaos Universe. The Saints have just escaped a terrible and strict system of control. Yet, Grand Dao is slowly enacting another similar system, one that may not be as severe, but also was not pleasant for everybody with a high cultivation.
