Kicked Out I Unlocked My Ultimate Boss Mode novel Chapter 107

107 Kael the skunk.

Leilani.

I woke to an agonizing headache and to extreme aches on every part of my body. The length of my skin was also covered in purple and black bruises and I immediately understood what it meant as soon as I saw them. 2

The triplets had gone at it again with Chalice.

They’d made love to her despite all my warnings, and that in itself pissed me off more than anything.

Angrily, I shoved the blanket off my body but as soon as I rose from the bed, my knees gave out. I crashed to the floor with a loud thud, my forehead smacking against the side of my bed as I went.

“Owww!” I groaned, screaming out the dirtiest line of profanities I could think of and cussing out at the triplets for doing this to me.

And goddess it wasn’t enough.

It wasn’t enough to calm the storm of anger raging in my heart. Not enough to dull the overwhelming ache in my chest and head. And not enough to calm that thing… that weird darker thing now growling fiercely somewhere in my mind. (1)

“Gosh, I hope that they’ll contact some supernatural werewolf gonorrhea or something. I hope that their balls would shrink and shrivel… and boil from going at it all the time with Chalice!” My rage made my throat burn as I screamed out these words, and it wasn’t until it was out of my mouth that I finally realized what I’d just

said.

Despite my pain, a laugh bubbled up from the depths of my stomach and I laughed so much that my stomach hurt.

Finally calming down, I wiped the corners of my eyes and sighed when my eyes

snagged on my bruised legs. But deciding that I wouldn’t let them get to me like this, I struggled to my feet and limped all the way to the bathroom.

And Hades, my body hurt.

It hurt so damn much.

Tears of relief streamed down my face when the warm water from my shower cascaded down my aching body and I closed my eyes, reveling in the temporary relief it brought.

I bathed quickly, changed into clean work clothes that managed to cover all my bruises and left the house without eating breakfast.

When I arrived at work, the first person I ran into was Jarek and as soon as our eyes met, memories from our last encounter flooded into my mind. But surprisingly, I discovered that I was no longer mad at him.

I was no longer angered that his mate would always come between us.

Because finally, it dawned on me that the major reason he’s refused to touch me is not because he doesn’t want to, but because he’s being considerate. Because he’s not like Caelum and Zevran and Kael… because he knows that my current plight would be his mate’s situation if we ever became intimate.

I smiled politely at him but I didn’t stop walking into the building. And Jarek, the ever persistent pest, didn’t see that as my very obvious attempt at ignoring him, he followed me, falling into comfortable strides with me.

His eyes, sharp and seeing roved along my body slowly, and after a moment, he commented; “You don’t look so good.”

“I don’t feel so good.” I clapped back. I squinted subconsciously when we stepped under the jarring fluorescent lights, then turned to him briefly and seethed; “My mates had sex last night.”

And while that should be embarrassing, for me, it wasn’t.

I was simply done.

I was done hiding them. I was done covering up their messes while all they did was mess with my life. I saw his face harden as soon as those words slipped past my lips, but I didn’t dwell on it for long.

I turned away and drawled; “Did you get my email yesterday?”

“Concerning the bug you discovered in CUSP’s software?” He asked calmly, but I didn’t miss the sudden sharp edge to his voice. Obviously, he was mad. Obviously, he had questions to ask, but I was in no mood to talk about the triplets right now. I only wanted to talk about the one thing I loved so much. My job.

I smiled. “Yes.”

“Yes, I did… and let me guess, you’ve found a solution?” He drawled, cocking his eyebrows at me; And even though those were mere words, it didn’t stop the warmth blooming in my chest.

It didn’t stop me from seeing the admiration in his eyes or from realizing that he trusts me… that he believes me… in my abilities.

I nodded. “Yes.”

“I knew it!” He hissed. Then all of a sudden stopped to grab both sides of my head, his eyes shining with glee as he squealed; “For a head so small, you definitely have a sharp mind, my genius!”

“And you’re only good at flattering me!” I snapped back, rolling my eyes.

The rest of the day was a flurry of activities. We had several board meetings, closed some deals, had dinner with the Landry group which did not end well, and at the end of the day, my fatigue plus the bruises burning just under my clothes made me extremely uncomfortable.

I drove home tired and with tears in my eyes, but as soon as I arrived home and stepped out of my car, the quiet peace I’d been expecting to return to shattered when I found a familiar figure standing at my porch.

I frowned. “What are you doing here?”

At the sound of my voice, Kael spun around, his eyes widening when he saw my face. He instantly made to touch me but I stepped back quickly, my frown deepening when

he looked… hurt?

He drawled; “I came to see you,

Leilani.”

“What for?”

My chest felt tight, and in that moment, it felt as though all of my anger from this morning was being directed at him. I could still feel my body burning from what he did last night, and yet, he had the effrontery to come here? To look hurt? To act as though I was the difficult one?
