Even a six-figure amount wasn't enough to make someone as rich as him blink.
There were a few seconds of silence on the other end before Valeria said in her soft, clear voice, "Sebastian, I'm just an ordinary person. I only want an ordinary life. If you're looking for a woman to fulfill your physical needs, I'm not that woman. And I hope you won't disturb me again."
As she said that, Valeria gripped her phone tightly. She could hear her heart pounding like it was about to burst from her chest.
She knew that someone as proud and spoiled as Sebastian would never continue to be around someone who had repeatedly embarrassed him.
Sure enough, Valeria was met with a long, deadly silence on the other end. The silence was heavy, and it felt like it weighed down on her heart.
"Valeria, do you think I can't live without you?"
No man would be pleased after being rejected multiple times, let alone Sebastian, the proud heir of the Grant family, who had never been given the cold shoulder in his life. He had always stood above everyone else, and in his eyes, Valeria was a married woman who already had a child.
He spoke in a calm and indifferent tone, but Valeria could still feel his anger through the phone. She stared out at the night beyond the window, and a sliver of moonlight slashed across the thick darkness. She also saw her own face reflected in the misty glass.
They could hear each other breathing through the phone, and in the end, Valeria was the one who hung up first.
Valeria knew that this call had broken things apart. She had said it all and rejected him. Things should truly be at an end now.
The tiara was a present for Selena, but it was just far too expensive.
Valeria couldn't get a good night's sleep, and the next day, she decided to call a courier service. She packed everything up and filled in Sebastian's home address.
But she still kept the backpack.
It was already nighttime when Sebastian got the delivery.
The property manager told him that a package had arrived at his doorstep.
When Sebastian got home, he saw the package with "Neal" written on it right away. He didn't need to open the package to see what was inside.
He smiled wryly. Did women always have to return the things he gave to them when they were mad?
Jane had done the same, and Valeria was no different.
"Yes, Valeria Wood. She's in the private room upstairs, too," Mark said.
Sebastian stretched his legs lazily over the footrest and downed the drink in one go.
When he heard that name, his expression hadn't changed at all. But his fingers clenched around the glass, pressing down until his fingertips turned white.
Mark's brow twitched.
Out of their group of friends, Sebastian was the hardest one to read. He wished Simon was there. Simon had sharper eyes and could probably manage to read something from Sebastian's seemingly calm expression.
Despite the lively atmosphere at the club, there was a suffocating tension in their booth. Mark started to sweat. "Sebastian…"
Then, Sebastian stood up and walked upstairs.
Mark followed closely. He was curious too. Just who was this Valeria, to be able to mess with Sebastian's emotions like this?
