Kneeling for a Second Chance (Sebastian and Valeria) novel Chapter 132

Valeria carried Selena out of the elevator.

She had her bag slung over one arm. Although they'd only been in the hospital for three days, there were still a few changes of clothes and daily necessities.

Selena was light, but she was still a six-year-old. Carrying her for a distance was tiring.

The hospital was big, and Valeria had always struggled with low blood sugar.

Selena rested her hand on Valeria's shoulder. "Mommy, Mr. Grant is such a child. He came to visit me last night and snuck me a smoothie. He told me not to tell you."

Valeria patted her daughter's back. "So, you drank a cup of smoothie without telling me? No wonder you feel heavier today. You must've gained weight and turned into a little piglet."

"I did not turn into a piglet!"

As they walked through the hospital lobby, Valeria was slightly out of breath.

She thought about finding a wheelchair, but wheelchairs weren't allowed to be taken outside the hospital premises.

She took a few more steps when suddenly, a gust of wind came from behind.

Before she could react, the weight in her arms lightened. Sebastian appeared out of nowhere, reaching from behind to take Selena from her. In the same motion, he grabbed the bag from her arm.

The force of it made Valeria stumble forward a step.

His actions were far from gentle. His expression wasn't pleasant either.

With one hand holding the child and the other carrying the bag, he strode ahead with long, powerful steps.

Valeria had to half-jog to keep up.

Sebastian was driving a black BMW 7 Series that day, parked right in front of the hospital entrance.

He opened the back door and gently placed Selena in the seat. Then, he closed the door.

Climbing into the driver's seat himself, he shut the door without saying a word.

Valeria stood in front of the car and stared at the closed door for a moment. Then, she pulled open the passenger side's door and got in.

She had barely shut the door before the car pulled away.

The drive was silent.

"Wait…" Valeria blurted out instinctively, watching his retreating figure.

Sebastian paused mid-step.

"Uh… thank you."

Even after hearing that, his expression didn't soften in the slightest.

He didn't look back and continued walking.

"Do you want to come up for a glass of water?" Valeria called out, watching as he reached the bottom of the next flight. She could no longer see him.

Sebastian's steps quickened, like the wind was at his heels.

She bit her lip, took out her keys, and unlocked the door.

As she stepped inside and was about to close it, a long-fingered hand, with distinct veins peeking out under the skin, reached in front from outside.

A solid forearm blocked the door to stop it from closing. Then, he stepped inside.
