Left Them Loved Myself (Stella Spencer) novel Chapter 145

A couple more slaps and Simon’s vision started to go dark. He nearly passed out on the spot.

Finally, Stella stepped in to break it up, pulling him out of the line of fire.

“Alright, that’s enough.” Stella held Erica back and asked with concern, “Did something happen?”

Erica buried her face in Stella’s shoulder and started sobbing. “Stella, this is a total disaster. My life is literally

over.”

Her words made Stella’s heart leap into her throat. “What is it? You have to tell me.”

Seeing how miserably she was crying, Simon forgot all about her slapping him and quickly asked, “Yeah, what’s wrong? We just ate some mushrooms, we didn’t do anything else. What could possibly have you this freaked out?

Sniffling, Erica handed her phone to Stella. “Look.”

It was a trending clip pushed by a short–form video app. The title was splashy enough to grab anyone’s attention, [High–Society Wild Boar], and the shares and comments were already in the tens of thousands and climbing fast.

Stella was amused by the title at first, but when she clicked on the video, the humor vanished.

It showed the scene of Erica in front of the hospital, being tackled and subdued like an animal.

“Some jerk must have filmed it,” Erica said miserably. “It’s already blowing up on a bunch of platforms. I’m not far from total social suicide.”

An heiress with a bizarre title like that? It was no surprise it went viral.

Stella pressed her lips together, forcing down a laugh as she tried to comfort her. “It’s okay, it’s okay. The internet has a short memory. People will forget about it after a while.”

“But I’m a social pariah now.”

Erica was spiraling, on the verge of a full–blown meltdown. She wanted to scream, curl up in a ball, and disappear.

Out of ideas, Stella blurted, “Why don’t you slap Simon a couple more times to blow off some steam?”

It was a long shot, but she had to try something.

Simon was speechless.

‘What? Am I just a prop in their drama now?

‘How could you say something so cold?‘

Making matters worse, Erica’s sharp gaze was already fixed on him, her hand raised and twitching.

“Hey,” Simon said, retreating. “Don’t you push it. If you dare slap me again, I’ll…”

SMACK!

A hand connected with the back of his head, cutting him off.

Simon was completely dumbfounded. ‘Seriously? She’s actually doing it.‘

“Alright then, don’t blame me for what happens next…”

Simon’s eyes hardened. Erica, unafraid, raised her hand to charge at him, but Simon spun around and bolted. He was gone in a flash, his voice trailing behind him from outside the door.

“…blame me for leaving first.”

Erica was silent.

So was Stella.

‘So much for being a tough guy,‘ Stella thought.

“Okay, okay.” Stella hugged Erica, her voice soft and soothing. “You slapped him, you let off some steam. Feeling any better?”

Erica nodded. “Much better, actually.”

Just then, there was a knock at the door.

“Come in,” Stella called out.

She thought it was Simon coming back, but to her surprise, it was Ernest who walked in.

Under the lights, the man’s bespoke suit fit him perfectly. His dark, tousled hair framed a pair of deep, piercing eyes that seemed even more profound in the stark lighting. Just his presence alone filled the room with a chilling, intense pressure.

Seeing him, Stella frowned, and her gentle tone became tinged with indifference. “What is it?”

Erica, who was clinging to Stella’s arm, remembered something and her eyes flickered.

Before Ernest could speak, she jumped in. “We don’t want you here. Please leave.”

She had thought deleting the text message had solved the problem, but she never expected the scumbag to follow them here.

The man ignored her, his gaze fixed on Stella, his expression as detached as ever. “Can we talk? Alone?”

Stella picked her up and held her close, asking gently, “What is it, sweetie?”

Daisy patted her stomach. “I’m hungry.”

Her words triggered a symphony of growling stomachs from Stella and Erica.

“I guess I’m a little hungry too,” Erica admitted.

“We had a long day, barely ate, and then threw up what little we had. Of course we’re hungry,” Stella said.

“So, should we find a place and grab a late–night snack?” Erica suggested.

“Sounds like a plan.” Stella, still holding the little girl, walked out with her.

In the parking lot, just as they had both gotten into their cars and were about to leave, a figure darted out in front of them, and Erica almost slapped him on reflex.

Luckily, she stopped herself in time.

Are you trying to give me a heart attack, popping out of nowhere in the middle of the night?” she snapped.

Simon sounded even more resentful than she did. “If I didn’t, you two would’ve completely forgotten about

  1. me.

Erica’s eyes darted away. “N–No way… We were just thinking we’d grab you something to–go after we ate. You know, to save you the trip

“What?!” Simon yelled. “You were going to eat without me?”

Erica went silent.

“Alright, Stella coughed lightly, playing peacemaker. “You ran off so fast. I thought you’d gone home. That’s why we didn’t think of you. Since you’re still here, get in. Let’s all go get a late–night snack.
