Stella, worried that Erica might actually provoke Cody into having a stroke, quickly pulled her away. “Erica, it’s getting late. We should go.”
“Hey, hey, hey! I haven’t had breakfast yet.”
“We’ll grab a bite on the way.”
“Fine. So, do I still get to inherit your fortune or not?”
…No. Let’s go.”
As the voices faded, Cody clutched his chest. Just as he was catching his breath, a ghastly white face peeked around the doorframe. “By the way, old man, don’t forget to sign me up for the talent show your entertainment company is running!”
Cody was left speechless as she disappeared.
After the [High–Society Wild Boar] trend from a few days ago, [High–Society Ghoul] was the new viral sensation.
On TikTok, the most pushed, most popular, and most–liked video featured Erica, her face a ghostly white mask, looking like she was about to eat children. She’d left an unforgettable impression on all the kids in the diner that morning.
“So, I’m either a pig or a ghost? I can’t just be a person?”
Erica complained from the passenger seat, scrolling through the video of herself. “And can these people even film? That person with the huge grin and ferocious look, is that really me? Are they sure this isn’t some deepfake?”
Stella bit her lip, finally unable to hold back. “Erica, do you want to take your makeup off?”
She’d noticed a child in the car next to them, who had been happily looking out the window, was now hiding and crying in his mother’s arms after seeing Erica’s face.
“No,” Erica pouted. “It took me forever to come up with this icy glam look.”
“Icy glam… You’re killing me!”
At the Lloyd Villa, Michael Crawford, who hadn’t stopped laughing since he saw Erica, was nearly in tears.
But his laughter died quickly.
A sharp slap landed perfectly on his cheek.

“Go on, laugh. Why’d you stop? Not a naturally happy person?”
No, the stinging pain on his face made it impossible to laugh.

Stella and Ernest sat down opposite each other, ignoring the scuffle. A heavy silence settled between them as they exchanged looks, each lost in their own thoughts.
Stella broke the silence. “So, what was so important you had to have me come back?”
Ernest pushed a file across the table. You can look at this first. We’ll talk after you’re done.
Stella opened it, a smile she could barely contain spreading across her face.
She wasn’t sure why Ernest hadn’t just signed her copy and had printed a new set of divorce papers, but she’d finally gotten what she wanted.
Focused on the agreement. Stella didn’t notice the subtle shift in Ernest’s eyes as he watched her struggle to keep from smiling.
He thought for a moment, then offered. “If you have any other requests besides the asset division in the agreement, you can bring them up. Consider it…..
He paused for a moment, then softened his tone–rare for him. “Consider it compensation from me.”
Stella looked up at him, a sudden laugh bubbling up. “Compensation?”
“Yes,” Ernest confirmed.
Stella let out a small laugh.
It was the kind of laugh that escapes when you’re utterly speechless.
“Is there a problem?” Ernest’s brow furrowed.
As they started talking. Erica, who had been hitting Michael, fell quiet,
“Enough!” Ernest’s anger finally boiled over. “This isn’t a circus! I won’t have you two causing a scene here.
Ernest’s question was blunt. Stella’s nod was just as frank. “Yes.”
After seven years, she did believe he had enough integrity not to do something like that, but she couldn’t be sure there weren’t hidden pitfalls in the legal jargon about stocks and assets she didn’t understand.
Having finally escaped this prison, she wasn’t about to carelessly fall back in.
“Fine. I’ll give you time to find a lawyer.”
After a moment of silence, Ernest spoke again, his voice cold. “But you’d better make it quick. I don’t have much time to waste on you.”
“Don’t worry.” Stella picked up the divorce papers, called for Erica, and walked out.
“This was a job for a professional. It was a job for Jeremy!
Before leaving, Erica seemed to remember something. She ran back and, under Michael’s terrified gaze, slapped him one more time before hurrying after Stella.
Her insincere apology echoed through the now–silent living room.
“Sorry about that! I have OCD. The slaps have to be an even number.”
Michael, his face and mouth now thoroughly swollen, was left speechless.
The whole thing was just absurd.

Meanwhile, the two women got in their car and drove straight to Lumière Group.
Jeremy, who had already gotten the message, was waiting in front of the office building. He hurried over as they arrived. “Stella, the lawyer you asked for is waiting in the conference room.”
