Severin closed his eyes shut as he carefully appreciated the knowledge entering his consciousness. The Wood Emperor Immortal Art was an extraordinary technique that rivaled even the old wacko's Supreme Oneness Scripture. Both pathways allowed one to become a true immortal, but the Wood Emperor Immortal Art possessed one unique aspect—it had a profound emphasis on harnessing fundamental mana, molding one's very being through the laws of creation.
Upon mastery, it enabled the user to wield the rule of time, fashioning it into the mighty river of time. Such techniques were unheard of within Bleurealm. As the imparting of knowledge subsided moments later, Severin opened his eyes gradually as he rose to offer a respectful salute to the Green Emperor. "Thank you for imparting this immortal art to me."
Immortal scriptures were named as such because they were the zenith of techniques and offered practitioners the path to immortality. With the addition of that skill to his arsenal, Severin now possessed two such scriptures, alongside with the Hidden Divine Technique in his inner world. With those, he had much more wealth in divine knowledge compared perhaps any other half-immortals within the Bleurealm's sacred lands.
However, he felt a sense of unease at the number of scriptures, because it might be too late for him to change to another method after having reached supreme paragon. With the demonic invasion looming, that might require him to expend more resources and time. Severin decided that it would perhaps be best to master the art when there was a suitable opportunity in the future. His focus could then be placed on honing the other divine techniques.
The Wood Emperor Immortal Art encompassed two divine techniques: the first was Triumphal Creation, which could imbue life into flesh and bone in addition to seizing the control of heaven and earth. The second was the River of Time, where mastery would of the rule of time would lead to the subsequent manifestation of the river itself.
The river of time was a concrete manifestation of the world's timeline. No practitioner in Bleurealm could exit it, as it the world's very essence. Severin knew that even an immortal may find themselves unable to break free of its current.
"This river was formed in my ascent to immortality and flows from the very origins of Bleurealm. It was formed from comprehending the rule of time, and has turned into one of the paths that I forged." the Green Emperor explained. "Within its currents lie reflections of the Bleurealm's struggles. Think of it as its history."
As the River of Time neared him, Severin felt its formidable pull, as if he had been swept away on an endless voyage on a boat through existence. Up ahead were fierce waves, depicting a future shrouded in uncertainty and darkness. Behind him were the lives that struggled against the river's relentless current—lives that tried to break free from the current like fish attempting to scale a waterfall.
