Even the royal celestials who were said to have consolidated three lifetimes and the flow of time would never approach the river of time with the casual ease that Severin did. They would invariably wield the most formidable celestial weapons and tread forth with the utmost caution. It was a stark contrast to Severin's leisurely stroll.
Feeling the toll of tens of thousands of years lost from his lifespan, Severin experienced a pang of distress that was countered by his resolute gaze.
"This is just the passage of time. It serves only to deepen my understanding of its laws!" he declared.
Despite the risks inherent in that endeavor, Severin also recognized the underlying opportunities. Forfeiting his longevity was a small price to pay for him to gain an increasingly profound grasp of temporal law. The next moment, he produced the Green Emperor's Pagoda without hesitation and deployed it above his head to shield himself. At the same time, he took out his Oculus Blade. The two treasures then warded off the encroaching tides of time.
With that protective barrier in place, Severin forged ahead. He moved another a hundred thousand years in, reaching a million years in the past.
The further back he went, the more he realized that Bleurealm was mired in decrepitude. Fissures riddled the earth, spewing forth torrents of molten magma. It resembled a haunting tableau reminiscent of the aftermath following a devastating conflict.
Though he was already mentally prepared, Severin found himself speechless at the sight. After a brief moment of shock, he calmed himself down and resumed his journey. The two weapons above his head emitted a radiant glow, their majestic auras resonating to create turbulent waves within the river of time.
In an instant, Severin witnessed the world collapse. Heavens crumbled, earth was upheaved, and countless lives perished in oblivion.
Then, darkness enveloped him, and Severin felt as though he had been trapped in an eternal void. Time passed, and when light finally pierced the darkness, Severin found himself back in the original space. Recalling the harrowing ordeal, fear flickered in his eyes for the first time and cold sweat dripped from his forehead.
"Was that the divine sword wielded by the ancient celestial sovereign in his final moments?" Severin muttered, wiping the sweat from his brow. "If a mere projection within the river of time had sealed my senses and plunged me into oblivion, I dread to think that the entirety of Bleurealm would have crumbled in an instant if everything had been real!"
