“Oh my gosh!”
“What a gentleman!”
“Kiss her! Kiss her! Kiss her!”
A crowd of friends and cousins cheered them on, laughter echoing through the room.
Whitney’s cheeks flushed bright red.
Ludwik stood up, scooped her up bridal style, and grinned, “Alright, Mrs. Lippert, let’s head over to the hotel. The whole family’s waiting for us.”
She nodded shyly, her gaze shifting toward the entrance—and suddenly, Whitney caught sight of someone unexpected.
Valerie.
She blinked. Of all people, she hadn’t thought Valerie would actually show up—yet here she was, right on time, just a little late to make an entrance.
“Valerie...Tiana, quick, go greet her,” Whitney whispered urgently to her friend.
Tiana spun around and spotted Valerie standing by the door, looking delicate but graceful, a soft smile on her face. She looked thinner than before, her subtle makeup just barely masking how tired she was.
Tiana hurried over. “Valerie! For a second there, I thought you weren’t coming. Come on in, Whitney needs you.”
“It’s Whitney’s wedding. Like I’d ever miss it,” Valerie replied quietly, stepping inside. “I was just waiting for the right moment.”
Whitney broke into a wide smile as soon as their eyes met.
Valerie smiled back, and as Ludwik’s sharp gaze swept over, she reached out and squeezed Whitney’s hand. “I’m here, Whitney. Congratulations to both of you. Mr. Lippert, wishing you a lifetime of happiness together. Take good care of her.”
“Thank you, I promise I will,” Ludwik replied with a polite, gentlemanly nod.
