Chapter 208 He Could Read Others’ Minds The engagement party ended, and Clarissa left with Damien.
On the way home, Clarissa received a message from her mother. (Don’t let Damien tolerate Luke)
[I told him the same thing, Mom.] Clarissa replied.
She too feared that Damien’s generosity was all a trap.
Alas, Luke was too happy to notice what was happening.
“Alright.”
Clarissa was certain Damien was plotting something nasty against Luke.
Just when she was about to reply, she received a message from Rebecca. (Are you up for coffee?
[Now?) (Yeah. I’m at the Garage Cafe, checking some financial reports. If you’re free, do stop by.]
Clarissa checked the location. Garage Cafe was only a few minutes away.
“Damien, Rebecca’s nearby and she wants to meet up with me. Is that okay?” Clarissa asked. Damien knew why Rebecca wanted to meet up with Clarissa.
“Sure,” he responded. “Thanks.” Clarissa gave Damien a peck on the cheek to show her gratitude.
The car stopped in front of Garage Cafe, and Clarissa went in.
Damien could see Rebecca through the window.
She was satisfied with Clarissa’s work performance.
“But I’m currently working somewhere else…” Clarissa said. “I know. Your husband’s company, right?” Rebecca responded with disappointment. “I knew this would be the outcome. I’ve always wanted to work with you, but fate doesn’t seem to allow it.”
Clarissa chuckled. “That’s true. What are you planning to do with Nicole?” Rebecca tilted her head as she replied, “I can’t fire her, that’s for sure. I’ll give her a private room and make sure she’s isolated from everyone else.”
Rebecca bore a vengeful expression as she said this. “Don’t overdo it,” Clarissa said. “Isn’t she madly in love with Joseph? Why didn’t she follow him?
“Who’s she to follow him?” Rebecca snorted, throwing the question back to Clarissa.
Clarissa privately agreed. ‘Fair enough. She’s not Joseph’s girlfriend, and Joseph never promised her a job.’
