I wanted to say he was disgusting, but I wasn’t in any condition to argue with a drunk. So instead, I said, “Let go of me. Holding me like this makes me really uncomfortable.”
Irvin loosened his grip slightly, but he didn’t fully let go.
I continued, “You said you wouldn’t be like you were before If that’s true, you have to show me you’re sincere.
You can’t just expect a simple sorry to make up for everything you did. That’s not how this works.”
I could tell he actually felt guilty about what happened. Bringing it up made his guilt even worse.
As I expected, his arms stiffened slightly around me.
“Let go of me first. It’s getting late, and I want to sleep. If you really change, maybe someday I’ll be able to let go of these feelings.‘
Even though I was trying to pacify him, I couldn’t bring myself to lie and forgive him.
However, forgiveness wasn’t even the issue. I wasn’t angry at him, I just didn’t want him in my life.
He stayed silent for a moment, holding me tightly. Then he buried his face deeper into the curve of my neck and whispered, “Babe, I just want to hold you while we sleep. It’s been so long since I got to do that…”
Hearing that, I couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh. “Why has it been so long since you held me? Was that my fault? Irvin, I was in the hospital for over three months, and you didn’t even visit me once.
“Oh wait, that’s not true. You did come once, but not to see me. You just wanted me to apologize to your precious Julianne.”
The man, who had been trying to play the victim, let out a sigh. He knew it. He hadn’t given me an out after ignoring me for over three months while I struggled on my own.
“I was really busy during that time,” he said.
The overseas branch had run into serious trouble, and there had been a major crisis at the factory in Clouria. He had been constantly on the move, barely finding time to catch his breath.
He didn’t have the time to argue with me.
“Busy, huh? You still have the time to make me apologize to Julianne and have the time to drink with her at the bar, play truth or dare, and kiss her, but not have the time to visit me?”
He was actually quite busy, wasn’t he?
I must’ve never cornered him so sharply while he was trying to sweet–talk me before, because for a moment, he was speechless. Annoyance crept into his expression as the atmosphere around him turned heavy.
It was as if he was silently saying, “Emilia, I already tried not to embarrass you and tried to make peace. Why are you still pushing it?”
I let out a scoff, thinking to my past self, “Look at that, Emilia. That’s the extent of his so–called love for you. Still think he cares?”
Sensing my contempt, he softened his tone and said, “Babe, I know everything before was my fault. Didn’t v agree to let go of the past and start fresh?”
Hearing that, I couldn’t hold back my laughter anymore.

After all the emotional damage le caused, after nearly getting me killed twice, he thought a simple repeat was enough for me to just let it all go? What kind of fantasy was he living in?
I replied with an ley tone, “Irvin, let go of me right now and leave. Otherwise, don’t even dream of getting my forgiveness for the rest of your life!”
He must have realized that he already crossed the line, that was why he fell silent. He then held me tightly for a long moment before finally letting go.
“Get some rest, babe. Just wait and see how I make it up for you.”
He knew this time I was genuinely angry. If he wanted to win me back, he would have to put in real effort.
Honestly, I had every right to be upset. He hadn’t even noticed when I was actually drowning and nearly killed because of him.
Even though I went to bed late, I still woke up on time.
When I got downstairs to the dining room, Irvin was already there.
The moment he saw me, he stood up and politely pulled out a chair for me. Once I sat down, he immediately started piling food onto my plate to please me.
I glanced at him sideways but didn’t say a word. That was until he handed me a piece of bread filled with nuts. “Babe, I got up at five this morning to bake this. It’s your favourite walnut bread. Try it! Tell me if it’s good.” Desperate to prove himself, Irvin had thrown himself into the kitchen despite knowing absolutely nothing about cooking.
Apparently, he had even asked Maureen for advice on how to make a simple yet impressive dish.
