After I returned to my room, I finally felt hungry when I saw the food that had been delivered to me. But just as I was about to start eating, someone grabbed my hand.
It was Irvin.
The real Irvin.
The moment our eyes met, I suddenly realized it made sense that I was caught. I had been too careless and relied too much on what I believed were facts.
Because I was convinced that Timothy was already dead, I convinced myself that he was Irvin, even though something felt off.
But I should have trusted my instincts more, no matter what.
Timothy had played the part so perfectly that it was impossible to find any flaws. He could even answer every question about my relationship with Irvin flawlessly.
But if I had really looked into their eyes, I would have seen it. He could never truly be like Irvin.
I snapped out of it and was just about to say something when Irvin asked urgently, "How much of this did you eat?"
I froze. "Why? Is something wrong with it?"
"There's a huge dose of abortifacient in the food. If you ate any, you need to throw it up immediately. It hasn't been digested yet, so you'll be okay," he said and tried to help me gag.
I quickly stopped him. "It's okay. I didn't eat any of it."
Upon hearing that, he let out a sigh of relief and finally calmed down.
Seeing that he had calmed down, I instinctively wanted to tell him that Timothy was still alive and that his so-called death to save Irvin was a huge lie.
But I suddenly realized that Irvin must have already discovered something if he was able to sneak in so silently.
Still, thinking about how powerful Timothy was here, I said, "Timothy isn't just alive. He's probably someone high up in this organization."
Without missing a beat, Irvin replied, "Yeah. He's the leader of the organization. Him dying to save me was just part of his scheme."
I was stunned. I didn't expect him to know more than I did. I was in the organization, but I never knew Timothy's exact role. I just had a feeling that he held a lot of power.
Before I could say anything else, Irvin grabbed my arm and pulled me toward the door. "William is waiting for us outside. Let's get out of here first."
