Love You Like I Used To Forget It (Millie Bridge) novel Chapter 518

If Irvin actually made it out of the area, how was Timothy supposed to hold onto his power?

This was pure humiliation.

Before Simon could say another word to stop him, Timothy snapped, "If we let them get away, our organization will become a joke! Do you want us to go from the most feared group to the biggest laughingstock?"

No one could ever understand how a wicked mind worked. Even Simon, who usually only cared about profits, suddenly agreed that they couldn't let us leave.

In their line of work, they could die a miserable death, but they couldn't be mocked as weak.

So they started throwing in more money without hesitation. The amount was so astronomical that even people who hadn't wanted to get involved couldn't resist jumping in.

That was why, just as we were about to reach the border, we were suddenly surrounded and hit with overwhelming firepower.

William was in the middle of fighting someone when, out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a sniper aiming at me. He punched the man in front of him, then lunged toward me, shouting, "Emi, look out!"

His voice made me turn just as I kicked away an attacker. I saw the sniper had already pulled the trigger.

I froze, eyes widened in horror.

All I could do was watch as William threw himself at me, using his body to shield me from that deadly shot.

Although he had confessed his feelings and told me he was marrying me out of love, it had never really sunk in. It was hard to believe a man like him could truly love someone like me.

After all, real life wasn't a fairytale. I was divorced and pregnant with another man's children. It didn't make sense for a wealthy man to be completely devoted to me, loving me unconditionally. That was something out of a novel or TV show.

Both of us turned toward the sound at the same time.

When I saw that it was Irvin who had collapsed, a wave of panic and fear surged through me. I immediately let go of William and ran toward him.

William was just as shocked. He knew how much Irvin loved me, but he never imagined Irvin would go as far as risking his life to save his rival in love.

He couldn't understand how Irvin could do such a thing.

William had risked everything for me, and Irvin had risked everything for William, all because of me.

As soon as I reached Irvin, he immediately shoved me away with the strength he had left. "Go! Get to the border now. More people are coming!"
